TI (Treasure Island) vs Mirage : Vegas Battle Royale

TI (Treasure Island)
Las Vegas Strip
Blow by blow:

Four of my eight buddies hooked up @ TI in about two hours of fishing. that's got to be the best odds on the house. Seems that all midwestern girls stay here.

Kind of our home away from home. Great location, great newer rooms, easy to naviagate property. Not thrilled with all of Rufiin's changes, but overall still a great mid-market property. One of the best locations on the strip with some awesome south-facing views. Theres something about the smell of Treasure Island that feels like "home" even when we are staying at other strip hotels.

Mirage's sister property, Treasure Island was originally intended to be a more family-oriented destination than any other resort I had previously built. Unfortunately, it's been bastardized by the company that took my company from me.

Not sure yet Coming in July 25-27 for a "reunion" @ TI, also have the patio @ Audigier reserved , should be fun! my guess is a 4-5, great rates now 183 for the weekend with promo code: directTI

My hubby and I were married at Treasure Island (before the TI change) and therefore, it will always be a favorite for us.

Great central location. Easy to get in and out of. Decent rooms for decent rates. Always a fun place to stay.

Treasure Island is one of my favourite places to stay. I really like the rooms. The size of the hotel is nice. The service at the breeze Bar is awesome. They have done a great job with a sub-standard pool. The craps crews are very good and cocktail service is great. I wish the dining lineup was a bit better.

I had heard that TI was a place for younger patrons (35 and below) but was surprised at how nice the hotel was. The refurbished rooms are extremely comfortable. The bed was perfect. The dining options are pretty good. Cantor's Deli has a variety of options and the portions are just right. The buffet is a bit on the small side but the selection of food options make up for that. The Sirens show was undegoiing maintenane this time around so I missed getting a prime spot to see it.

Young Vibe, Great Location, Recently renovated and comfy beds, Attatched to Mirage by Tram which houses JET one of the top 3 nightclubs in Vegas. Has Social House and Tangerine on premises. Hop, skip and a jump to Fashion Show Mall, Wynn, Venetian, Mirage. Very Good Spa

TI is probably my favorite strip resort. I stay there every other time or so - there are so many places to try!I like the intimate feel of the poker room. I think that the steakhouse is the best value compared to other places I've eaten (SW steak, Craftsteak). The times I've been there the pool had smokin' hot chicks. I mourn the old Pirate Show - Sirens sucks. I like the room decor and the location can't be beat with a stick. I'll be back for sure. I'm planning a long weekend of my Vegas favorites - TI is where I'll stay.

A lot classier than what I expected from the disneyfied signs and outer motif. The linens and beds were wonderful, the buffet was good for the price and the blackjack dealers were great. Definitely will return.

Stayed there in May of 2008. What I liked about it is the size isn't massive and you can navigate with ease. It is hard to beat the location as well

I love this hotel for the location and their rooms. As the sister hotel to the Bellagio, their suites are comparable without the price. No luck at their slots in all of our trips to Vegas so we no longer gamble here. Had one issue at check in, with a rude young lady who acted as if my right to ask for an upgrade was bothering her, even though their so called "directadvantage" program boast this option for booking online. She said there were no suites available at 3:10pm and not even pretending to look up room status on her computer. But after checking into our room and seeing the crappy location she gave us we called down to the front desk and spoke with a manager who in 5 minutes upgraded our room. This took a total of 15 minutes tops from lobby to our room. So what would you think?? The first 15 minutes soared my opinion of this hotel so we did not stay there this year. But it is a very nice property, that I would stay at in the future.

New rooms are awesome. The Mrs and I have a good relationship with MGM Mirage so it kinda sucks that TI was sold off. Otherwise I could definitely see us staying here most of the time.

Great value at a great location. Stayed here several times over the past few years. The updated rooms are nice.

Lost my Vegas cherry here. First place my wife and I stayed at so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

First hotel we stayed in Vegas. Loved it (and Vegas) ever since. The only negative is perhaps the pool - it's very nice but too small. More often than not the rates here are great so we find it hard to want to stay elsewhere. Also, they tend to comp our bill a little on check out - which is nice considering our low roller status !

Best mid-priced hotel on the strip. Surprisingly really nice rooms, great strip views, fun low-limit tables, and the perfect location. Request a panoramic view room at the corners of the tower- you will be extremely pleased.

the rooms are nice enough. bad vibes in the casino. next time i'm in vegas i must remember to steal an ashtray.

TI is a GREAT property. It is a smaller hotel (in comparison to the MEGA hotels: MGM, Mandaly, Venetian, etc), which makes navigating the casino and hotel easy. However, don't let the size and the affordable prices fool you. You get ALOT of bang for you buck. The newly renovated rooms are FANTASTIC. They are quite spacious and modern for the price. The beds.... oh the beds.... Are the MOST comfortable beds I have EVER slept in. They wonderful to sink into after a long day of walking the Strip or dancing the night away in a Vegas club. The resaurants range from the very affordable Coffee Shop and Canter's Diner, to the fun -filled Kahunaville, to the mesmorizing Isla. They have something for EVERY price range. TI is always my #1 choice of hotel when I'm on a budget, but don't want to compromise the ammenties of all the higher prices MEGA hotels.

My new favorite place to stay on the Strip. Great location, comfy rooms, some nice restaurants, tram to Mirage, and price makes it a winner for me.

(stayed July 2009) This is no longer the Mirage's homely sister; the remodeled rooms ooze class and style, and the property is far removed from the "family/value" vibe that it had several years ago. This hotel is as cool as any of the four star hotels; it's only topped by the Venetians and the Wynns. Shortcoming? The pool area that is about average and nothing special.

TI is like an old friend, its comfortable, food is good, its easy to get around and its friendly. The rooms have been redone and the beds are some of the best in LV. The bathrooms are small but functional. The buffet is edible, but don't miss eating at Kahunaville. If you can score a 2 for $15.00 lunch coupon, its one of the best food deals in Vegas.

Okay, here's the deal: TI isn't the classiest joint around. They're selling a concept (SEX) and they're not ashamed of it. The Sirens of TI "show" lures droves of people to the sidewalk out front, and about half herd themselves into the casino afterwards. I make it a point to see the Sirens at least once a night when I'm out Nevada way. Yes, it's cheesy, that's why I love it. If you look hard enough you can find a few $5 Blackjack tables for the low rollers like myself. The buffet is overpriced at ~$30 for dinner for what essentially amounts to Applebee's quality grub. Cross the street and hit the buffet at the Wynn instead. TI is tacky good fun for the 40 and under crowd.

This place was just fun... Phil's Italian Steakhouse was one of the best meals I have ever had. The room was really comfortable and the staff was friendly.

Tower Suite was nice, casino pretty nice to us as well. Hit big on I Dream of Jeanie quarter machine. Lady at the desk was a little harsh, may have been cause i was drunk from the plane ride. Overall we had alot of fun there.( theres an abc store in the mall next door for liquor.)

From my first visit to LV, I kinda thought Treasure Island was cheesy. Until, 2004 when I walked in for a second time. There is definitely a difference since MGM-Mirage rebranded the joint.. Oh yeah, check out Tangerine Wednesday night. I would recommend reserving a table..

Having spent it's life until now as little more than Mirage overflow, Cap'n Phil Ruffin steers the good ship Treasure Island into uncharted territory as an independent boutique hotel. It's still too early to tell what kind of place he wants TI to be, but for now it's one of the few middle class joints with enough capital to renovate when need be.

I really want to stay here after going upscale, and yet have a hip, cool vibe. It looks like fun and sexy piratyes in front makes me want to have a view of it.

Out with the pirates theme and in with the SoCal cool. Great Location, decent room price, and around a lot of action.Have stayed there twice, that must mean they are doing something right.

Liked it much better when it was Treasure Island and had the Pirate Show instead of the Sirens. The Skull and Crossbones was way cooler too. What the hell was MGM thinking? They should have just put up a giant boob sign and called it TIT instead of TI.

Not bad for a smaller strip casino. They need to work on customer service some. Isla is a good Mexican Restaurant

This used to be pirate themed. Who's bright idea was it to get rid of that? AND to get rid of the pirate theme oooh about 1 year before the whole world became pirate crazy.

Nice hotel with good prices, I liked the location and the Casino was fun.

Pool very cool, free shots at the pool party. Tables took ALL our money, slots were too tight. Cocktail waitresses came around once in 2 hours. Rooms were ok, our sheets were very wrinkled when we first checked in. All in all we preferred NYNY over this hotel.

This is the one casino I have yet to stay at but want to. It really is next on my list, just want to find a good deal on a room. Sometimes places just give off a good vibe and that is how it is for me here.

Excellent room with an amazing view, decent service. I had little to complain about with this place.

I liked the corny pirate nonsense much better, no biggie. I have some sentimental attachment to this place

Have stayed at TI at least 20 times. Still like to drop in each trip to see what else they've done to screw the place up. Used to be the place to watch football in the fall. Then they got cheap with the drinks.

Blow by blow:

I love every thing about this place. The layout, the pool, the food, the location. I have won alot here ( again, very important ), and efficiently for the wife, its right next to the forum shops. If she lets me, my headstone will look like the Mirage...volcano and all.

My Vegas home. The recently redone Tower Deluxe rooms are great and have some neat geek toys to boot.

My all time favorite is the Mirage, this is the Hotel and Casino that started the boom on the strip. This place is still nice and even thogh somewhat dated, iin it's day was the newest and most facinating casino on the strip. Steve Wynn knew what he was doing when he built this place.

I love the Mirage. This is still what I think about when I think about Las Vegas. There is no place I would rather be then at the Mirage pool. I recently stayed in a one bedroom Tower Suite, and I have to say for the price it was, without a doubt, amazing. It was $135 a night for the first 3 nights the $150 for the last, and they included $80 in food credit, a line pass ( but only for the cafe, buffet, and CPK) And, 4 tickets to the dolphin habitat and secret garden. The room was starting to show it's age, but it was big, spotless and beyond comfortable.

There's just something about pulling up to the exotic porte cochere, checking-in in front of a massive underwater kingdom, and strolling through the breathtaking rainforest that makes this place a surreal, yet comfortable wonderland. Also, of all the MGM resorts, this is the one that manages to still embrace it's theme as a perfect paradise while still being tastefully modern. It has held up remarkably well against the big boys and still manages to offer the service, class, and quality that made it a classic.

The opening of the Mirage in 1989 signaled a change in all resorts in Las Vegas. Gone were cheap eats, lousy entertainment and cheap rooms. We offered a higher standard of luxury, but still affordable to the family traveler.

Not a single room, restaurant, or amenity would make the list for best in town, but everything under their roof is a solid option creating a total resort that far surpasses the sum of its parts.

Great Location, Worn rooms, Excellent Dining options, Big, One of top clubs (JET), I compare this to Mandalay only swap rooms at Mandalay to Mirage and it would be a must stay for me every time. The only mark I can find agains Mirage is the rooms are smaller and not updated.

The one. The only. The original. The Mirage.
When Steve Wynn first opened this over 20 years ago, this was the classiest carpet joint in town. And while other "ladies of The Strip" have come and gone, this one continues to age gracefully, like a good wine or good cheese. I know some of the recent "60s mod remixed" renovations have been controversial, but I'm personally digging it. It's like this lucky lady has a whole new lease on life!
Personally, I just adore Carnegie Deli... IMHO the best REAL NYC style deli in town. Onda is also an underappreciated hidden Italian gem here. And "LOVE" so far is my fave Cirque show. I'm working on getting a room here soon, so hopefully I'll let you know soon how the room renovations are holding up.

Swanky by our standards. The gambling is way outta our league. We're all about the 9/7 quarter slots. the odds here are not good and it'll cost ya at least five bucks a hand in video poker. The Hotel is amazing though.

This had been my favorite until recently. A bad run at the tables will do that. Several bad runs will turn a6 into a 5. Would be lower but I stayed in the Penthouse sweet and that was luxury at it's finest. Add Stack and the pool bar and I can't hate on Mirage too bad.

the mirage what can i say hmm damn it was huge and well... dark for the most part. in the casino anyways. we were here to visit the secret gardens and to have a stroll around the place little did we know it would take again half a day to do it and not see all of it . we did see all of the gardens but to get there was quite the feat walking through the maze of slots and getting lost at the poker area due in part to a sign in the wrong place pointing us to the pool and gardens area. as we arrived in the gardens area it was very nice and well covered with green foliage and trees to shade you from the sun so if you're there on a hot day you can catch a break out there in the shade in the gardens the animals were awesome but one tiger did decide he wanted to mark his territory might i add. as me and about 4 others were sprayed so that was our cue to exit and get to a restroom and clean up lol

Tropical rainforest: plus 1. Giant aquarium behind front desk: plus 1. Dolphins: plus 1. Cravings buffet: plus 1. Luxurious rooms: plus 1. Fat, cute little birdies eating leftovers by the dolphin habitat: plus 1. Not-so-great VP selection: -1. Score = 5.

Best mix of the high and the low of Las Vegas. Great energy, great design, and ALWAYS a good time.

If you really think about it, the Mirage is truly still a magnificent place. You have the huge and elegant suites, the attention to detail, huge-ass dome with a forest in it, lots of hidden gems and last but not least, those secret mini -mansion- villas. Now if only MGM didn't make the casino and rooms all contemporary and boring looking...

I have stayed here once and will stay here again soon. I love the smell, the layout, the staff, the decor, the location, the eating selection, and most certainly the pool. I really enjoyed my time at the Mirage and look forward to visiting them again. Price for value ratio is brilliant at this hotel/casino.

I have always wanted to stay at the Mirage and finally did so In January of 2010. The room was very nice and well decorated but I was not feeling the vibe in the casino. BLT Burger is a great place for a Burger and a Brew and Stack is awesome food but that is about all that is good for dining options. The selection of Rum at Rhumbar is great but the service on the patio was awful. The sports bar is the only casino bar to grab a drink, watch a game and play some bartop video poker and it's always packed. Another good casino bar would be nice. Overall I liked the Mirage but it really doesn't have an exciting vibe anymore, the casino renovation took away the uniqueness that was Mirage and made it just another non-descript casino floor.

Casino is a little dark, but I found the dealers pretty friendly. I hope they lose the 6:5 rubbish. I hear they got rid of the cafe as well. While it wasn't the best in the world, I vaguely recall enjoying breakfasts there at 4:30

My first love in Las Vegas was the Mirage. I don't love it quite as much now that they've moved away from the tropical theme to a more hip, contemporary theme (and took away the free tiger habitat at the entrance) but I still like it a lot. Has some good restaurant choices and one of the best pool areas on the Strip.

I love the entrance to the Mirage, the palm trees, the orchids, the waterfall. The Mirage redid the inside of the casino. It went from tropical to feeling like every other casino, except that the Mirage has some cool glass sculptures by the high roller area. The rooms are comfortable and functional, they also took out the tropical decor and blanded them. They took out the cafe, so there is no longer a cafe on the property. The buffet is so so, used to be a lot better. Its so austere, no atmosphere at all. I like atmosphere!

Pool is great, twenty years has really given the trees a chance to grow in which makes the whole place feel more relaxing than other pools. The penthouse suites are sweet, and Stack is one of the best restaurants in Vegas!

I don't know, they give me free rooms and I think that is very nice of them. I could do worse.

A great place for couples. Loved the Polynesian theme, lush folliage, tropical pool, volcano, white lions and dolphins. Both shows here are spectacular. Love is my all-time favorite, and Terry Fator is hilarious. Don't let the puppets fool you; Fator is awesome! Kokomo's has delicious food served within an artificial rainforest. Carnegie Deli has huge sandwiches - pig out or split one with a friend. Guest rooms were recently renovated and still look new. Beds are very comfortable.

Mirage is a classic ! remember walking into the entrance and checking in and instantly couldn't wait to see my room. The room was good but... what I loved about the place was their pool. Probably the best pool I've been to in Vegas. Placed some bets on my Mariners at the Sports Book. Played a little Video Black Jack, after several trips back and forth to my room in the wee hours. Would stay here again if they didn't charge a 20 dollar resort fee.

One of my favorite Sports Books. Been very lucky there. Love their annual SB party!!! Relaxed poker room

My favorite spot in this hotel is the pool and the Siegfried & Roy Secret Garden. This hotel offers great food, and nice rooms (before MGM had to fuck them up with there new ugly designs).

Still one of my favorite properties on the strip. The standard rooms are on the small size, but I would stay there again in a heart beat.

Pretty decent rooms and an unbeatable location. I usually enjoy my stays at the Mirage.

getting old (the hotel and so do I), but i like it, saw sogfired and roy 20 yrs ago

The Mirage is a nice hotel! The animal habitat was kinda cool, but very expensive to see. Seems like the MGM-Mirage corporation is catering this joint to high rollin' family types. The one plus, if traveling with shopping types, the Forum Shops are right next door from the enterance of the Mirage.

The first joint that the Mrs and I ever stay at in Vegas. Really love the aquarium behind the check in desk. Probably one of the better values on the strip.

Nice enough place. Rooms were cool. No cheap eats though and the beer prices at the pool were outrageous.

The newly remodeled rooms are very nice-except if you're allergic to the bleach they use on the sheets. My skin started burning shortly after getting into bed, and as welts appeared I called for 2 blankets to sleep on. My friend had a lesser reaction. Now I know to look at all room pictures, and see if they have white sheets. The likelyhood of this same problem will be there.

She's not who she was when I first fell for her but I still love her. Kind of like the ugly girl that wore too much makeup in 8th grade but was really cool to hang out with.

The Mirage opened a week before my first trip to Vegas. Now we are both old. A decent race book.

Updated version of the original masterpiece, the modern twist is nice in a good location at a good rate.

I have a bias against the Mirage because I always lose whenever I play in their casino. But having stayed in a renovated Penthouse suite a few years ago, I would point out that there is no kind of high-end service here at all. The "Penthouse" is just a big room on a high floor - and its room rate isn't that low compared to Mandarin Oriental cityscape suites or the like. Otherwise, I'd call the Mirage unremarkable. This place is the oldest of the Strip's megaresorts, and while its not as worn down as, say, the Luxor, the age shows. The casino is dark, the food is generally unimpressive (I'll call BLT Burger the exception), and drink service in particular is lacking (not enough bars for good comped drinking while playing VP). There are worse out there, but for the price you'll see me in Aria or the like before I shell out for the Mirage again.

The grounds are beautiful, the drink waitress was cute, the staff were great and they kept pouring daiquiris down my throat and comping my cigars. Too bad I lost heaps of money there!Still a great value place with excellent atmosphere. Could do with more S17 tables though.

Still a good value even if MGM killed the decor and stuff like Kardashian Khaos keeps upping the douche-vibe with each new addition to the lineup.

Showing its age. Nice middle of the road buffet. Rooms were still in the rainforest style when I was there. Slots tight for me. Try the BLT Burger Shakes. MMM

STAYED IN DECEMBER 2010 FOR MY B DAY. I GO TO VEGAS EVERY DECEMBER FOR THAT REASON. I RECCOMEND THAT YOU STAY AWAY FROM THAT PROPERTY. I STAYED IN ONE OF THERNEW PENTHOUSE SUITES AND WAS NOT VERY IMPRESSED. I WAS ON A FULL RFB COMP BUT MORE THEN HALF OF THE RESTURANTS WERE CLOSED. BE AWARE THAT IN DECEMBER THIS HAPPENS AT ALL MGM PROPERTIES. I PLAY SLOTS AND I HAVE TO SAY I HAVE NEVER EVER SEEN SLOTS SO TIGHT AND A CASINO SO QUITE NO RINGING OR MUSIC COMMING FROM MACHINES THAT PEOPLE ARE WINNING ON. IT SEEMED THAT NOBODY WAS WINNING ANYTHING AT ALL. I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH SOME FREE PLAY THAT THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME BECAUSE I STAYED MY FIRST NIGHT AT EXCALIBUR AND AS A B DAY PRESENT THEY GAVE ME $500 FREEPLAY. BUT THIS WAS A COMP NOT A PROMO SO IT SHOULD NOT HAVE EFFECTED MY FREEPLAY AT MIRAGE. MY HOST THERE WAS NEW SAID SHE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO I LEFT SEVERAL MESSAGES FOR HER BOSS TO CALL ME WHILE I WAS THERE AND HE WAS ALWAYS IN A MEETING. WHEN I GOT HOME I TRIED GETTING IN TOUCH WITH ANYONE FROM MGM INTERNATIONAL WITH NO LUCK. I DECIDED TO START PUTTING SOME NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ON THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE WHICH THEY REMOVED BUT I GOT A CALL 10 DAYS LATER FROM HER BOSS. BECAUSE OF MY DISATIFACTION WITH MIRAGE I PLAYED ALOT AT HARRAHS PROPERTIES SO MY RATING AS A PLAYER WENT DOWN ALONG WITH MY OFFERS. IN THE END I WAS ABLE TO GET MYSELF AUTOMATIC PLATNIUM STATUS FOR M LIFE AND $500 FREEPLAY TO BEUSED AT ANY MGM CASINO FOR MY NEXT VISIT. BUT AS I SAID MY STATUS AS A PLAYER AT MGM HAS DROPED.
