Venetian vs Monte Carlo : Vegas Battle Royale

Venetian
Las Vegas Strip
Blow by blow:

Best and largest rooms on the strip. I rank it a little lower than Encore and Wynn because the gambling atmosphere is a little "uptight" and "warehouse" feel. I like a more party and loud gambling atmosphere.

My new favorite, getting comped will do that for a casino. Great restaurants and best club, Tao and Tao beach. Service is excellent and location is good. Looking forward to going back.

Stayed here over Halloween a year ago loved it. Went and ate at some new restaurants this last trip. Bouchon is a delicious breakfast!

Saw the Venetian on our first trip to Vegas and dreamt of staying there. Well, with the help of websites such as these we discovered promo codes and did on our next trip. The rooms are amazing and the pool area is really nice - a lot of space to relax and not feel crammed in like some other pool areas. We try and stay here a few nights on every trip - promo code permitting ;0)

This was the first place I stayed. The second I stepped foot into that lobby, the obsession began. I was hooked. Great rooms, great restaurants, great service. And the casino's not so bad either.

The rooms are awesome, the casino is confusing, prepare to walk miles to find a bathroom, so plan ahead. ;) The Venetian is always hopping. Some days its full of conventioneers, some days its the night clubbers hanging out. If they would just kick the scent down a notch that they pipe through the public areas and casino, this place could score a darn near perfect. Love the food at the Grand Luxe, portions are ginormous! Everything you want is at the V, from shopping, world class chefs, a good gamble and a great bed at the end of the evening.

stayed in the venezia concierge level. it's a pain in the ass to get to your room but the one great thing about it was that they have complimentary cocktails in the early evening. drank the bar out of jack one day. don't forget though just cuz it's free doesn't mean you don't tip.

This is my favorite strip casino. It's absolutely gorgeous. The detail that has gone into this place is amazing. The rooms are suites and very nice. The gambling, in my opinion, is like most places on the strip, tight. They don't build these big casinos on the backs of winners. It is however, one of the top places to see in this great city.

I like the Venetian even with the huge old lady- like odor. I still love to wonder around and eat a Mario Batali's restaurant at the Grand Canal Shops. For me, the second to third best joint on the strip behind Bellagio BTW: Large and nicely renovated rooms!

Very large, got lost trying to find the check in desk, and casino, and restaurants. Nicely laid out room for special occasions. Higher priced than other locations on the strip, though some times they do have good deals. Very nice atmosphere.

Phenomenal poker room and poker room tournament staff. Best food court food. Fresh baked bread and even thought they aren't the best value, or the best maintained, my favorite standard room floor plan on the strip.

Niiiiiiiiiice rooms, classy place to be of course. But really I stayed here because it was free and all the girls were in the next room.

Probably our favorite Vegas hotel room so far. Love the sunken living room and being able to shower while watching TV in the bathroom mirror. Huge, impressive property to explore ... St. Mark's Square, several great shows and many wonderful dining options. Not a big fan of the casino, however. Higher table limits and IMO some of the tightest slots in Vegas. And it's a Hell of a long walk from the room to the strip.

This place was alright. Only came here to eat and ride the gondola which was way too crowded.

Fantastic restaurants (Delmonico). Rooms are getting a bit worn and not a great place to gamble. Overall a great facility.

Beautiful!! A bit large though. It took a long time to get our bags after check in. They did offer upgrades upon checkin. We chose the 1400 sq ft piazza suite. Boy was that fun. Be sure to call in room dining and inquire about a coffee pot. They will bring it up to you with enough for your entire stay for less than $5 total. Be sure to visit the Buchon bistro. Great treats and snacks. Looking forward to staying here again.

I thought the room was nice. Not amazing, but pretty nice. The biggest downfall of this place is that it is gigantic and maze-like. It's nearly impossible to know your way around in any less than 2 days. Frustrating.

Very nice large well appointed rooms. Great Dining options, Great Location, Overrated Spa with lousy wet facilities, The reason I rate Venetian a 4 while Mandalay Bay, TI and Mirage get 5s is because I take value into consideration.

I have not stayed here but I like the casino and the bloody mary's here are great!

Good sized rooms with a funky design (step down living room), I stayed here for a week during a Convention and got very comfortable here. It’s not as high end as they would like to be, but it’s a solid B .

Too rich for my blood to gamble here. Unless I'm ready to get bled on Pai Gow and there is a $10 table to be found. But a nice place to lay you're head.

They have freaking gondolas. Does your fave spot have gondolas. I thought so.

Sorry, but IMHO this place is a faker. The Venetian claims to be "high-class", but beneath that "classy veneer" is just another aging, tacky, overly "Disney-fied" themed "convention factory" casino. The only reason I ever occasionally stop in here is because it has a few salvageable restaurants... But with David Burke and Charlie Trotter (at Palazzo) gone, I have even fewer reasons to bother with this place. Why do the impostor when I can get the real deal (Mirage, Bellagio, Wynncore) nearby?

I don't count Bouchon, but I do count hearing Music of the Night 1000 times per stay.

Blow by blow:

We LOVE the Monte Carlo!!! We have stayed here many times, and it is by far our favorite thus far.
The check in process is awesome. You make a short (by Vegas standards) walk from the parking structure, down the stairs and you are right at the check-in desk. The hotel check-in staff are always very friendly, quick and knowledgeable. They make sure everything is just as you want it before you go to your room.
To get to the hotel rooms, you turn around from the check-in desk, and you are right at the elevators. The rooms are always VERY clean, everything works, the TV's are nice and beds are comfortable.
The Pool area is really fun, for all ages. The wave pool, lazy river, hot tubs, etc... it's all there and well maintained.
I love the restaurants are nice, and my favorite so far is The Pub. The Chicken wings are out of this world!! We watched Zowie Bowie for about 3 hours one Friday night and had a blast. (Unfortunately as of Labor Day 2010, Zowie Bowie is going back to Red Rock).
We are planning a trip back to the Monte Carlo in September 2010 and have plans on eating at Andres! Can't wait!!!
I highly recommend the Monte Carlo to anyone.

The sight of my single biggest win ever, 9G's on roulette no less, and therefore very important to me. I hope they have not changed in hte last three years bc I loooooove the smell of the shampoo/conditioner/lotion here. So much memeory association I'll drop a little in the hottub to relax, drink some whiskey and think about Vegas. Rooms are ok, but Ive never seen one sober.

I have stayed here more than any other place....high limit gaming at $25 limits during the daytime, can't beat that. All dealers, pit bosses there are extra friendly. Can't wait to go back. Try Diablo's.

Monte Carlo was our hang out for a while. They were one of the few Hotels that use to allowed Saturday check-in and that fit our schedule at the time.1st place I ever saw a chicken wrap on a menu. The pub is one of the best places to just drink and drink beer.

Monte Carlo offers the best value for staying on the Strip. MC is right next to CityCenter, close to Bellagio & Cosmo and not too far away from Caesar's via walking. Convenient parking and easy access to the other resorts (if you know the shortcuts). I've stayed at MC many times and MC emails me many bargains at very good rates.

We plan to stay at the Monte Carlo in April 2012 for our 2nd time in our many trips to Vegas. Great location and value. Free Monorail connection to City Center & Bellagio. Very centralized location on the strip. Our last stay there was our first, so it was a bit overwhelming. We are not quite Vegas veterans by any stretch, but I am looking forward to this upcoming trip at Monte Carlo.

Great casino design: walk in a straight line and you see everything. Nice but not overwhelmingly so, which is probably why we don't hear too much about it. Their cigar shop probably had the most knowledgeable clerk of any I've met.

Great location, low-key action, affordable, an understated deal in the right location. Accessible to most decent budgets.

I stayed at the Monte Carlo in May 2000 right after I got my divorce and it was my first solo trip EVER. When I arrived I was a little nervouse about being in a big city all by myself. My room was nice, a little small, but fine for just me and the casino was very good. Like all of Vegas; the service was great for a true first timer like myself.

Nice, clean rooms. Nothing flashy at all. I personally had some great blackjack runs here but the dealers range from morose to a lot of fun. Drink service is about average but they don't seem to be actively trying to get you drunk here. The pool area is nice enough but I was there during CityCenter construction and that kinda sucked. Overall, a good property but to me it's just kind of bland. I personally liked themed casinos.

Kind of boring, but bonus points for lots of open tables, and unusually friendly pit-bosses.

Enjoyed Monte Carlo. Quiet casino and nice room. I have also stayed at Hotel 32 which was great. Private lounge, great room and awesome service

Nice place to say, but nothing really stands out about the property. Once CityCenter opens it could become our new home base.

Last hotel stay: May 2006
Last property visit: May 2010
Monte Carlo is dull, and friends who have visited the hotel more recently than I have complained that the furnishings are no longer all that great and the prices are too high for what you get. It does have a surprisingly nice pool area with a wave pool and lazy river, although on a smaller scale than MGM Grand & Mandalay Bay.
