Venetian vs Palazzo : Vegas Battle Royale

Venetian
Las Vegas Strip
Blow by blow:

Best and largest rooms on the strip. I rank it a little lower than Encore and Wynn because the gambling atmosphere is a little "uptight" and "warehouse" feel. I like a more party and loud gambling atmosphere.

My new favorite, getting comped will do that for a casino. Great restaurants and best club, Tao and Tao beach. Service is excellent and location is good. Looking forward to going back.

Stayed here over Halloween a year ago loved it. Went and ate at some new restaurants this last trip. Bouchon is a delicious breakfast!

Saw the Venetian on our first trip to Vegas and dreamt of staying there. Well, with the help of websites such as these we discovered promo codes and did on our next trip. The rooms are amazing and the pool area is really nice - a lot of space to relax and not feel crammed in like some other pool areas. We try and stay here a few nights on every trip - promo code permitting ;0)

This was the first place I stayed. The second I stepped foot into that lobby, the obsession began. I was hooked. Great rooms, great restaurants, great service. And the casino's not so bad either.

The rooms are awesome, the casino is confusing, prepare to walk miles to find a bathroom, so plan ahead. ;) The Venetian is always hopping. Some days its full of conventioneers, some days its the night clubbers hanging out. If they would just kick the scent down a notch that they pipe through the public areas and casino, this place could score a darn near perfect. Love the food at the Grand Luxe, portions are ginormous! Everything you want is at the V, from shopping, world class chefs, a good gamble and a great bed at the end of the evening.

stayed in the venezia concierge level. it's a pain in the ass to get to your room but the one great thing about it was that they have complimentary cocktails in the early evening. drank the bar out of jack one day. don't forget though just cuz it's free doesn't mean you don't tip.

This is my favorite strip casino. It's absolutely gorgeous. The detail that has gone into this place is amazing. The rooms are suites and very nice. The gambling, in my opinion, is like most places on the strip, tight. They don't build these big casinos on the backs of winners. It is however, one of the top places to see in this great city.

I like the Venetian even with the huge old lady- like odor. I still love to wonder around and eat a Mario Batali's restaurant at the Grand Canal Shops. For me, the second to third best joint on the strip behind Bellagio BTW: Large and nicely renovated rooms!

Very large, got lost trying to find the check in desk, and casino, and restaurants. Nicely laid out room for special occasions. Higher priced than other locations on the strip, though some times they do have good deals. Very nice atmosphere.

Phenomenal poker room and poker room tournament staff. Best food court food. Fresh baked bread and even thought they aren't the best value, or the best maintained, my favorite standard room floor plan on the strip.

Niiiiiiiiiice rooms, classy place to be of course. But really I stayed here because it was free and all the girls were in the next room.

Probably our favorite Vegas hotel room so far. Love the sunken living room and being able to shower while watching TV in the bathroom mirror. Huge, impressive property to explore ... St. Mark's Square, several great shows and many wonderful dining options. Not a big fan of the casino, however. Higher table limits and IMO some of the tightest slots in Vegas. And it's a Hell of a long walk from the room to the strip.

This place was alright. Only came here to eat and ride the gondola which was way too crowded.

Fantastic restaurants (Delmonico). Rooms are getting a bit worn and not a great place to gamble. Overall a great facility.

Beautiful!! A bit large though. It took a long time to get our bags after check in. They did offer upgrades upon checkin. We chose the 1400 sq ft piazza suite. Boy was that fun. Be sure to call in room dining and inquire about a coffee pot. They will bring it up to you with enough for your entire stay for less than $5 total. Be sure to visit the Buchon bistro. Great treats and snacks. Looking forward to staying here again.

I thought the room was nice. Not amazing, but pretty nice. The biggest downfall of this place is that it is gigantic and maze-like. It's nearly impossible to know your way around in any less than 2 days. Frustrating.

Very nice large well appointed rooms. Great Dining options, Great Location, Overrated Spa with lousy wet facilities, The reason I rate Venetian a 4 while Mandalay Bay, TI and Mirage get 5s is because I take value into consideration.

I have not stayed here but I like the casino and the bloody mary's here are great!

Good sized rooms with a funky design (step down living room), I stayed here for a week during a Convention and got very comfortable here. It’s not as high end as they would like to be, but it’s a solid B .

Too rich for my blood to gamble here. Unless I'm ready to get bled on Pai Gow and there is a $10 table to be found. But a nice place to lay you're head.

They have freaking gondolas. Does your fave spot have gondolas. I thought so.

Sorry, but IMHO this place is a faker. The Venetian claims to be "high-class", but beneath that "classy veneer" is just another aging, tacky, overly "Disney-fied" themed "convention factory" casino. The only reason I ever occasionally stop in here is because it has a few salvageable restaurants... But with David Burke and Charlie Trotter (at Palazzo) gone, I have even fewer reasons to bother with this place. Why do the impostor when I can get the real deal (Mirage, Bellagio, Wynncore) nearby?

I don't count Bouchon, but I do count hearing Music of the Night 1000 times per stay.

Palazzo
Las Vegas Strip
Blow by blow:

There is a lot that the Palazzo offers that I enjoy. The gaming and dining is right at the top of that list. I feel most comfortable at this property because the layout is simple and understandable. This is the main property I gamble at.

The perfect place for a couple of Pampered Palazzo Princesses. Gorgeous rooms, over the top spa, shopping bliss, dining delights and a Phantom to woo us at night. Cant wait to book another girls weekend there with my sister in law.

The Palazzo, my favorite home away from home! The rooms are twins to the Venetian with a different decor. You have the living room and a bedroom. The bathrooms are my favorite, they have a makeup area that is separate from the sinks, so the hubby can get ready without getting shaving cream all over my makeup. Oh, and we can do all of this while watching TV in the bathroom or in the bedroom or in the living room. Once you get the hang of the lights in the room...they have a master switch, its all good. Switch it the wrong way and splay out some new words while you scream in frustration. The drapes open with a remote control, I have got to have that at home. Bam, drapes open...time to get up! The beds are uber comfortable, so are the 6 pillows...and if you want more, there are usually two more in the closet.
Service at the Palazzo in EVERY area is top notch from check in to drink service in the casino. The casino has wider aisles which is great for all of us claustrophobes and you can actually get some play time in for your dollar. Whoudda thot on the strip that this is possible?
The crown jewel away from the high end restaurants and shops is the Grand Luxe Cafe. The food is always excellent, fresh and the portions are humongous. The price is reasonable for a resort of this quality.

Just as good as Wynn don't believe the design-snob/Wynn-fanboy hype that this place sucks. It's actually better than Wynncore because theres less douchebags and the restaurants are better too plus you have the whole Venetian to spread out in if you get bored and its better located than Wynn too. Plus the rooms are huge and the views are great too! Personally I prefer Bellagio & Aria but my wife likes the food & shops here better.

Brand new and really nice. The rooms are the best thing about this hotel. The gambling is good. 40/40 club is over rated, but the people are very friendly.

New hotel. Rooms are huge and beds are comfortable. Palazzo is attached to the Venetian and the Sands Convention Center. Good location near Wynn and Fashion Show Mall. Probably great for conventioneers and older couples. Palazzo just seemed to lack the same exciting vibe I get at Wynn, Cosmopolitan, Bellagio, or Mirage. Still one of the nicest places to stay if the price is right.

Everyone hates V/P so much these days it's almost embarrassing to have Palazzo listed. You know what? This is a damn good place though. True, comp offers disappeared for a few months there but they are back in full force. The "host" on duty even comped FB for me on check out. The basic rooms are very large. Smoking rooms usually have 3 ash trays. The average player here is below average so it's entertaining to watch the casino take their money. Don't bother chasing high status on the player's card unless you are a slot player. Table players don't get any love from the status system but your comps will be there (even if they refuse to give them to chuckmonster). Oh, when you do get a comp to come back it's "matchplay" not "freeplay" so always take it in slot credit and burn it on video poker for maximum player hold. Again, I really like this place even if everyone else hates it.

A more casual, less maze-like property. The Venetian for those of us who don't like getting lost. Parking access is a godsend.

I stayed here during a conference a few months after it opened in 2008. Rooms were very nice. At the time their Grazie club was only good for 3 months and then you had to re-enroll. Pretty sure that has been changed by now.

OK, so Palazzo isn't as bad as its sister next door. The casino's layout isn't as confusing. The mall has some swanky shops, including my fave Barney's. First is a hip & happening bar/restaurant.
Still, there's something wrong here. It feels a bit like a Bellagio-Wynn hybrid knock-off. And as much as I like the non-smoking casino areas, I still don't feel right gambling here.

While it has the nicest standard hotel rooms in Vegas, it has the overall feel of an upscale shopping plaza, not of a multi-billion dollar resort and casino in Las Vegas. It's just lacking the overall vibe and tiny little details that make Wynncore and Bellagio so special.

Used to love this place, that is until Uncle Sheldon ended comps - big mistake. The comps got us on the property which resulted in us doing most of our gambling, eating, drinking and shopping on the property. We are boycotting Uncle Sheldon's properties until he recovers from his massive brain fart.
