London Craps

Some notes of craps play during my annual London trip.
Craps table removed from the Sportsman Casino at Marble Arch. I talked to one of the former craps dealers and he said this was a management (Caesars Entertainment) decision to remove since play was too low for their standards. They replaced with a roulette table (only a total of 8 tables in this place), but was not open that evening.
This dealer did inform me that another casino opened a craps table this summer. So went to Palm Beach casino (Berkley Road; Green Park tube stop by the Ritz Carlton).
Table was not 12 foot (I would say just over 10 foot) with a hard surface. 5 pound minimum with 3-4-5x odds.
I had no comments from the dealers or boxmen while I was shooting.
Really nice casino that was lively and had a good night vide. A few douche bags, but nothing too bad.
The casinos still require you to be a member and show your players card to enter.
Craps table still at Victoria Casino on Edgware Road, but did not visit this casino during this trip.

There's now a 'super' casino at Westfield Stratford (next to the 2012 Olympic park, tube:Stratford) - no membership required, walk in and play. Only when gambling/winning over 1,000 GBP do you need to give your details.
The casino is called Aspers - there are table games as well as machines (although the machines are about area of the Cosmopolitan's boulevard casino, so not exactly super).
The interesting thing about the machines (which I've not seen in las vegas) is that every time you win, you get a chance to double or nothing your winnings. A card is dealt on the screen and you pick one of 2 cards, if your card is higher you double your win, if not you lose. you can do this up to 12 times.
So may be worth a visit on your next trip - if you feel like taking a central line or jubilee line train out there

Thanks for the info of this new casino.
I see this tube stop is in zone 3, but can just add a few GBPs on the Oyster card and travel out there.
Does this casino have a craps table?

Not sure about craps, should be swinging by there next week. I'll have a look and let you know.

No mention of craps on their website. But they do have 'American' roulette *yawn*.
Has anyone seen video poker in a UK casino. To be honest I usually only go to Gala's or Grosvenor's but I've never found one.

I've never seen VP in the UK anywhere,
I know that Aspers in Stratford does have a Craps table but it hasn't been open any
of the times I've been there because they haven't trained the staff yet... It could be open now though, I last went a month or so ago.
The only other option is the Grovesnor on Edgeware Rd, or there's one in Southend too.

The Aspers casino has a mini craps table, but at the moment it is only open at weekends (and maybe Friday nights) as the demand isn't as high for craps in the UK.

I think there could be the demand, i know plenty of people who would love to play in the uk but cant find anywhere to. I think for the most part its the casinos fearing a lack of profit from the craps table through low house edge and having 4 staff. Thats 4 people that could be running constant shuffling machine blackjack, No one in england seems to run a shoe! Also the demand is currently low but if it started popping up everywhere people would learn the game an lap it up! I think another thing going against craps in the uk is the number of post night club gamblers there are, it would cause chaos with drunk people confusing bets on things like the field, walking away with dice in there hands, or plain falling all over the table cos of the lack of chairs. Thats just my 2 pennies, id love to see craps go big in the uk but until then i have to keep saving for a trip to vegas!
