tier points MGM Mlife

Started by Does43 on Wednesday, 11th January 2012 4:47 am

Several years member and trying to understand the system of tiers, comps, points and so on, still no clue.
Question: on the site of Mlife it says: more than 1.000.000 tier points you are Noir card holder. I have over 1.200.000 tiers points and are Platinum, ??
Or is there another qualification to have to get Noir?
Thank you all in advance.

I can't speak directly to the issue of qualifying for Noir, but I do know that the information on the MLife website is often inaccurate. I've always had much better luck talking directly to either my host (for things like reservations) or the staff at the MLife booth.

1) all your M Life questions have probably been answered on the blog... use the M Life tag.

2) You can't qualify for Noir it is invitation only. Insiders tell me that there are under 100 noir members... the biggest of the whales. If they want you, they'll find you.

Not true Chuck. Noir is now open for those with >1,000,000 tier points. Point requirements and benefits have been printed on marketing materials given out at MLife desks and throughout properties.

There's been report of those with >1,000,000 points haven't been 'automagically' upgraded, but a simple visit to MLife desk solves this issue. Additionally, once you're Noir, you can no longer see your tier points on the (always accurate) MLife webpage. A trick is to use the mobile web version to see your number.

Either "Does43" doesn't actually have 1.2 million points and it's an error on the website or they need to stop by an MLife desk to get their new card.

Yes they changed the noir requirements a few months back and now everyone & their brother has a noir card but even when it was invitation only Chuck's number of only 100 or so was way low...

@GolferTrav thanks for the clarification, I was not aware they had changed the point structure.

I have less than the required amount for Gold but I'm still Gold for some reason. I really don't understand how/why MGM can make such a disaster of their player's club. I also don't understand why they hate video poker players. I don't understand how they still charge resort fees. I don't understand why mlife.com doesn't work on Firefox on OSX.

Why oh why MGM? It's easier to get Platinum with mLife than Diamond at CET but isn't worth it in my eyes.

GolferTrav replied on Wednesday, 11th January 2012

I have to admit that I don't know nearly as much about MLife as I do CET's TR, but I'm hoping to change that as I move my play from CET to MGM.

I do know that MLife uses a rolling 12-month calendar for accumulating tier points. I'm not sure how that works with acheiving a new level or maintaining one. My MLife card has what appears to be an expiration date.

When I had a comp'd room at Mirage, I was NOT charged the resort fee. I know some places do and others don't on comp'd rooms.

For some stupid ass reason, MLife uses Java for their login. Probably why you're not able to use the site with FF on OSX. Chrome on OSX does work however.

I'm Diamond at CET and I think it's probably worth it because I don't think I'm getting anywhere near the comps with TR as I would with MLife as a table game player. Sure everyone can get a free room, but as you move up the food chain, it'd be nice to get larger/nicer rooms and RFL/RFB.

Believe me, I think about CET vs. mLife far too much. They absolutely both have pros and cons. I think what you said about "moving up the food chain" weighs particularly heavy on my mind since my bankroll is 10 times greater now than 10 years ago. At my play level, it's difficult for me to achieve Diamond but I manage to do it. Every time I get mad at CET I'll hit Mandalay Bay and love it there. When I play heavy I really like the offers I get.

I've never seen a real boxing match, a UFC match or some famous band and have it all comped in advance. mLife gives you these things. CET, on the other hand, gives me a $300 gift card to Sears. How about those Diamond lines? CET treats Diamonds so damn well and mLife just doesn't seem to.

It's a debate I go through all the time. Why can't we take MGM's properties and give them CET's players club? Now that's something we could all celebrate.

I understood on MLife that the tier points get "dropped" after so long but I've been going once or twice for years and can only drop several hundred in gambling per trip. I've been on the MGM card since I started going to Vegas about 5+ years ago and then got "promoted" to MLife Sapphire (whoo-hoo). On the last day of my last trip I managed to pick up Pearl status (with 100 points to spare). Either I'm misunderstanding how the points are earned or the roll off rate isn't that drastic? (really, ~$500 gambled once to twice a year gets me to pearl status after 3 years of MLife with each year's points dropped after 12 months?)

(Of course locally I was trying to get to an Elite status card with a local casino (Centaur club, non-MLife/TC) which required 23,000 points to obtain... I have 17,000 now earned over 4 years. So when I check to confirm that I'm only 6,000 points away I get told... "No, you have to earn the 23,000 points in one year... it's not cumulative...)
