Phantom Leaving the Venetian

Phantom, as announced by @phantomlasvegas, will close on September 2, 2012. Wow, with the recent moves of Blue Man to the Monte Carlo and Jersey Boys to Paris, how will the Sands Group replace the vacant theater space?
Perhaps more importantly, how do they replace the gaping hole in their elevator music lineup?

Venelazzo lease out their theater space, so I imagine that they will begin looking for at least three new tenants.
Aside from the elevator music, they're going to have to think of a new ad to put on their room keys.

With Lion King leaving MB and now this, I wonder if there is a spot for traditional Broadway shows in Vegas. I'll tell you this, that Lion King or Phantom line was always absolutely out of control. I also liked the fact lots of people "dressed up" to see the shows -- much like people do in New York.
I'd love to see more Broadway shows come to Vegas. Best of all, those clubbers hate that crap.

Agree with him on all accounts, 100%. Just saw Phantom for the first time in December and it was my favorite show out there. Hopefully more traditional shows will come in. I just hope its not another Zumanity.

It would be cool if they booked Wicked and even cooler if Shelly made a guest fly by on his broom.

I'm sad to see Phantom go. It was a really well done production. Might have to catch it once more before it closes.
Did we ever get an actual date for Blue Man moving to Monte Carlo? I don't recall one.

Not that I remember. An article from last February only narrows it to Fall of 2012.

Wasn't there a rumor a while back about Barry Manilow moving to the Palazzo? Something about a tweet someone made that had Manilow dining with one of Palazzo's entertainment execs right around the time he announced he was leaving Paris? There was also some talk about Manilow going back to the Hilton, but that would seem doubtful now that it's "LVH"...Manilow probably wouldn't be an exciting choice for most on this board, but to me it seems like he'd be a good fit with V/P's older/convention-oriented crowd.

Venetian will probably use this opportunity to make another night club.

Maybe its time one of the big Strip casinos added a nightclub like Scores. After all it is Sin city.

Thank god. Maybe now I'll be able to ride the elevators there without plugging my ears.
