Encore vs Cosmopoitan

I know Wynn and Encore are favorites around here and Cosmopolitan has been the proverbial punching bag since opening night, but i want to know what you guys would choose. i'm getting about the same deal on flight and hotel for a regular king suite at Encore, and a terrace suite at Cosmo. the thing im factoring into this is that Cosmo doesnt do the resort fee and it would be a bigger room but i imagine the service wouldnt be as good as if i stayed at Encore again. but i also dont want the 25 resort fee and i have always gone for the panoramic strip side for another 25 a night. so for my five night stay i would start off with 250 bucks in fees at Encore. I want to try Cosmopolitan, and to see if i could get an upgrade to a wraparound. which one is worth it guys and gals?

If your choice is simply based off of the hotel portion of the resort, then I would choose Encore. The rooms at Wynncore are far and away better than anything else in Vegas. The service is always excellent.
If you are basing this decision on the entire resort experience, then choose Cosmopolitan. The rooms and the hotel-side service may not be as great (except for the terraces), but almost everything else is. Food, nightlife, better center-Strip location, etc.

+3 About to take my second stay (third trip) to the Cosmopolitan. I love it for all the reasons stated above.

My wife and I have stayed at both. Cosmo is cool, the rooms are nice. But Wynn/Encore is more comfortable for us. More relaxing, better service. Cosmo is more balls to the wall 24-7. But if you visit Vegas often, I would try cosmo just so you can experience it and have your own opinion. I also dont really care for how they treat there gamblers, not a very good comp structure.

Wanted to add on my previous +1 above…
So the past year I have stayed exclusively at Cosmo and Encore, with a total of 6 trips. I can say hands down if given your choice I would chose Encore, the main reason I have stayed at Cosmo past my first visit when I wanted to try it out has been value. I have a friend at Cosmo and am able to get an upgraded room for standard rate, and the rates have beat out Encore on most occasions. Here are my observations:
1. Casino – The cosmo casino has a terrible feel to it, it feels depressing cramped and dark. Encore and Wynn have a certain energy that makes me feel much more comfortable throwing my money away.
2. Staff – The staff at cosmo is more about what their policy and computer says rather than making sure you are happy. They are nice about it but don’t seem to have a can do attitude nor the will to make things right. The other issue which is bigger is that the right hand doesn’t speak to the right, I found it rare that two employees would tell you the same thing. I have countless examples of both of these that I don’t care to relive.
3. Location – Can’t beat Cosmo on this one, I tend to venture out more when I stay here due to center strip location. I don’t mind Wynncore’s location with fashion show and some of my favorites nearby but I don’t explore the strip as much when staying here, which isn’t a bad thing necessarily.
4. Rooms – Now I originally thought this would be a tough one but after staying in both, even back to back a couple times I have to give it to Wynn. The rooms are so well thought out and luxurious feeling, the cosmo rooms feel like your average hotel room. The one redeeming quality of the Cosmo room is the terraces by far. The only Cosmo room I prefer over an Encore king room is the wrap around. The rooms are always in working order and clean at Encore too whereas the rooms have been dirty and beat up at Cosmo.
To sum it up I stayed at Cosmo for two nights a couple weeks ago and went to Wynn for a drink before my flight, while sitting in Parasol I decided we had to spend a night at Encore so I switched my flights and booked a room. My stay at Encore was much more relaxing than Cosmo. In the end chose based on what is important to you but those are my 2 cents.

Okay, Cosmo's issues are seemingly related to their returning to the control of the lender Dushe Bank (yep I mispelled it on purpose). so staff and room readiness are psycho' issues of an uninspired management...That said, it's still an aesthetically interesting place and we did well on the casino floor. Biz has been tough for many in many quarters so let's just play and keep the faith. 'Nuff said.

You could talk about this choice all day.
Encore has the best beds/room comfort in Las Vegas, hands down. But Cosmo has those terraces, and that view.
Cosmo has GREAT affordable, modular food. At Encore it's hard to even find a decent latte, or a meal for less than $50.
It's easier to get a truly quiet room at Encore than Cosmo, though your view will be nonexistent.
Encore feels miles away from it all, for better or worse. It can be elegant and serene to the point of being staid. Cosmo has a younger, less predictable vibe, but as a result you're more likely to encounter drunken idiots stumbling through the casino.
Encore public spaces have some really problematic design elements. (Those giant red things behind the reception desk? Scary.) At the Cosmopolitan, I'm always finding new, tiny, perfect design details in the most unexpected places. (Example: the subtle tone-on-tone "wallpaper" design on the wall tiles in the second-floor bathrooms.)
Encore music can sound like the playlist for a high-end suburban brunch party. Cosmo digs a little deeper and gets a little more obscure, and changes their tunes throughout the day to suit the hour and the clientele. Even their '80s oldies are a bit more inside (one day last week they were playing a Cure album track off 17 Seconds--haven't heard that for decades).
Encore/Wynn casinos together seem to offer a lot more options than Cosmo, but I can't say I've had better luck there.
Encore has a $25/day resort fee. Cosmopolitan has no resort fee, but charges $15/day for Wi-Fi for two devices.
Encore comps are way way way way better, and probably always will be. But I still find myself paying (at least sometimes) to stay at the Cosmopolitan instead of staying for free at Encore, because just walking through that place makes me happy.

I stayed at Cosmo terrace room for three nights in mid-dec.
I signed up for a Marriot Card and was able to use points to get a free Saturday Night Terrace Room.
Observations:
If was very loud. I guess I do not stay Saturdays nights on the strip too often so I am not sure if this is the norm, but the music from the clubs were unbearable in my room.
I thought WIFI was free, but it was $15.
The Wicked Spoon Buffet has gone downhill. Fortunately, I charged it to the room and it never showed up on my bill.
Interior Design was a bit tacky for my tastes.

Stay at Encore, eat and drink at Cosmo. Why stay at Encore? Because they don't fuck shit up.
