Steve Wynn's German Dogs

Im told Steve Wynn has these expensive German dogs for security reasons.
I dont get it. He lives in very secure places and is followed by security guards in purple jackets. What would he need the dogs for?
GolferTrav responded on Thursday, 19th January 2012
There are probably many factors, but my guess would be that the dogs allow him to feel secure in situations where he doesn't trust/want other people to overhear sensitive information or be present for sensitive situations.
Especially when money is no object, people who value personal security don't ever think it's 'too much'. As an example, did you see the CEO for Diamond International on Undercover Boss? He had his security guy/driver do a room sweep on his hotel room...

I'm guessing its an extra layer of security.
The whole kidnapping thing and all...

Since they're trying to turn into Bally's, he's just starting the Pet Stay progam at the top.
JakeZ responded on Thursday, 19th January 2012
The dogs are first and foremost his pets.
I've actually seen him with them before, walking around the hallways at Wynn.
apollo28 responded on Thursday, 19th January 2012
really? they let dogs in the public area of wynn?
Strollers arent allowed but dogs are?
JakeZ replied on Thursday, 19th January 2012
They let Steve Wynn's dogs in public areas of Wynn.
And even though they "ban strollers", I see them all over the place.

They're very nice dogs. I've had my hand in one dog's mouth. Good dental hygiene.
Long story.

Oh no you don't just leave it at that...
JohnD replied on Thursday, 19th January 2012
I believe this is the story where, mid-interview, Steve noticed something (plastic or something similar) in his dog's mouth. He asked Dave to remove it, commanded the dog to keep his mouth open, making is very easy for Dave to retrieve the object. Correct?
Dave702 replied on Friday, 20th January 2012
That's it. Yeah, sticking my hand into a fiercely protective guard dog's mouth to take out something he was enjoying isn't one of the smartest things I've ever done, but all's well that ends well.
apollo28 responded on Thursday, 19th January 2012
But if Steve Wynn gives a command in German wouldnt the dogs bite your hand off.
apollo28 responded on Thursday, 19th January 2012
This may be representative of what the dogs can do.
skip to the second half for the attacking commands.

My friend was on the his way back to the Wynn Country Club a few days ago, and he said he was passed by a handler and one of the dogs. I told him it must've been Steve's dog, and he said that's the only way it made sense. Small world!
Malibugolfer responded on Friday, 20th January 2012
Steve loves his dogs, had them at his place at the Mirage when it opened.
They are not just for his use protection companionship but for Wynn Encore in general.
They don't specify all their training regimen but explosives would certainly be one of them.
Malibugolfer responded on Friday, 20th January 2012
Apollo, did you notice that Wynn has one of his dogs with him in the cool "before MGM" video on Bellagio you posted?
apollo28 replied on Friday, 20th January 2012
I didnt post that one.
apollo28 responded on Friday, 20th January 2012
yes...Paulo(spelling). The dog looked very well mannered.
Just out of curiosity...at Mirage where was Steve Wynn's office?
I know at Bellagio it was behind the O theatre and it Wynn its behind the Wynn Esplanade. I assume he didnt have one at Treasure Island.
I like the design of them. You see it in Oceans 12 and 13. Beautiful office interior with a nice garden outside. I believe his office at Wynn is smaller than the Bellagio one.

apollo, it was my daughter's boyfriend who was with his dad (a business partner of SW at the time) who was at the Mirage. Unfortunately he has passed away so I can't ask him now. I think he was on a top floor though.
