Wynncore website not working?

Started by bigdaddyj on Friday, 20th January 2012 10:20 pm

So anyway, I leave Sunday for my latest trip to Vegas, so of course I'm up late tonight trying to acclimate myself to the time change & also obsessively checking all things Vegas on the web and can't seem to get Wynn's website to work, just brings up a the header & a brown background and nothing else...getting the same result in both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome...is anyone else experiencing this? Maybe I need an update to my flash or something...

Nevermind, must've been a Java thing...I removed an old version of Java & now it is working (well, in internet explorer, anyway, still not working in Chrome for some reason)...

Also, Wow, Vegastripping.com is a lot faster in Chrome!

Ok, since it wouldn't be a post by me without some criticism of Wynn...anyway, I was checking out the menus at Bartolotta, Wing Lei & The Country Club, thinking I might take a ride up to Wynn for a meal one day next week while I'm in town, and I found this to be a little disheartening...for example, what happened to all the fresh, exotic seafood that used to be on the Wing Lei menu? You used to be able to get Geoduck clams, abalone, etc. there, now I don't see any of that on the menu, I mean seriously, the Wing Lei menu hardly looks better than that of any local upscale suburban Chinese joint by my house now compared to what used to be on it...the menu at Bartolotta seems to be about half the length I remember it being too...Country Club is now only open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday? I'm pretty sure the last time I had dinner there it was on a Monday or Tuesday, and the menu seemed a lot shorter there now too...it's making me think twice about stopping by for a meal at all...I mean, is this a sad reflection of how far the bean counters have cut into the restaurant budgets over there? Someone please tell me I'm wrong and that Wynn has just started putting edited versions of their restaurant menus on the site, because otherwise this is just plain sad...

Can't speak for Wing Lei, but you are right about Bartolotta. The menu was slashed in half. Now its only seafood & pasta pas, and seafood and a few "turf" entrees. And it's still WAY too expensive to eat there.

As far as The Country Club goes, it has been open for Dinner Wed-Sat for years. I have lunch there weekly and know practically all of the servers & managers in there. The menu on the website, for whatever reason, actually contains fewer dishes than the menu they present to you at the restaurant. They've also started offering three or four specials every day.

It's definitely sad. The only places I would even think of eating at Wynncore (with my own money anyway) are The Country Club and Sinatra. The rest have just slipped into mediocrity.

We were there in September:
Wing Lei : Never do it again. They are more interested in attracting Chinese high-Rollers for their private dining rooms. They let one such person march right through the dining room past our table and that of several others, puffing on a cigar the whole way. We could still smell it emanating from their private room and we had to ask--twice--for them to get him to put it out.

Bartalotta: As long as they still have the fresh fish cart, I'm all in!

I can't comment on whether or not the web site is only publishing edited menus. Seems likely, but who knows. Why change that?

They may simply be trying to drive business to other restaurants. Lakeside Grill is a great venue and I was delighted with my meal, although expensive as hell. Red 8 suits me just fine for Eastern fare. Wazuzu is also very good.

I'll make the trip to Wynncore every time I go to Vegas, if I'm not already staying there!

I've also experienced the smoking in restaurants situation at Wynn. I was out to dinner in September with some family at SW, and there were at least three groups of people smoking, both inside and on the restaurant's patio, with all of the doors open.

Since when did Wynn start allowing that? It's disgusting.

I think they allow it sometimes for the VIP's until someone insists they stop...

Forgot to mention:
had my bachelor party dinner at Botero and it was excellent
Sinatra was also a hit
