Does using your M life "Exclusive Tier Discount" go against your comps?

I'm M life Gold and have been given the fun/stress of planning a friend's bachelor party. I can get a few nights comped at Mirage, but I know that'll hurt me in the long run since I never seem to get as much gambling time in with the large group trips. Certainly not enough to warrant the free room, anyway.
That said, I also have the option of using their "Exclusive Tier Discount" to get a better rate. I'm not greedy enough to take advantage of the free room, but assuming that I hardly gamble, will my future offers still dry up for using just the tier discount?

Last April, I got sick halfway through a 24 hour trip to Vegas...I gambled much less than I normally do. I later called my host to explain and he told me it didn't matter. He said as long as you have 3 trips within an 18 month period, they take the most recent 3 and drop the lowest one and average the other 2. This was at Mandalay so I'm not sure if this is a Mandalay thing or mlife thing.
There's actually a benefit to you for booking several rooms for your friends. I'm not sure if you can do it through the useless website, but you can get a "casino rate" based on your gold level through your host (which I assume is the same as the "Exclusive Tier Discount" online). Here's the good the part: you now earn mlife tier points based on how much you spend on your room. Even if though the rooms are in your buddies' names and they are using their credit cards, you ring the register on tier points.
To be honest, I bet if you tell your host the complete truth and that "my friends have never been to the Mirage before" you'll get a smokin' deal. Hosts simply love that line.

I often use the Gold tier discount to book rooms rather than take comped nights. Most of my comps are only for the lowest room class (although sometimes you can get upgraded rooms). Also, I rotate through the different properties and often don't have a current offer at wherever I want to stay next. The tier discount is always available and is often the best rate (far better than casino rate). It can only help your rating (25 pts per dollar spend).

I would hazard a guess that yes, booking under mlife tier rate would 'generate' a trip in the same way booking a comp room would. However, I will say that MGM is much more forgiving to a 'bad' play trip other then CET.
MGM has been reducing comps fairly heavily lately, my suggestion would be to burn any offers available and then see how play on the next trip affects things.
My play at gold level, has moved from 3 comp nights and $100 free play to basically discounted tier level rates or 2 free midweek nights in some cases.
