Fatbastard's Trip Report 9/2 - 9/8

Please excuse my lame trip report - I have absolutely no creativity when making money is not involved...
Saturday 1PM flying into town - Presidential Limo again shines. They have yet to fail us. Quick pick, help with the bags, liquor store stop and then on to the resort.
Arrive at Encore Tower Suites entrance; all is well until they say the room isn't ready but they will text when it is. Do we want a pool pass while we wait? No - you have all our luggage and I'm wearing a sport coat. While away the next 90 minutes at the Terrace Cafe and nada from the desk. Go back and oh yeah the room is ready. Never got a text. Slightly more than a minor annoyance. We asked for a room facing the Fountainbleah wasteland so as to avoid the Beach Club nightlong ooontz creeping into the room.
Labor Day weekend club loozer fest was in full swing through Monday night and after that things returned to sanity. Still love the Encore - room service breakfast each morning (excluding tip) for two was included...total nice score.
Service at the tower suites pool continues to suck. The young kids stand at the service station under the umbrella misters while guests dry out drinkless in the sun. In our case big money is left behind due to the poor attentiveness. Shocking really considering where we are staying and the way we tip. Oh well. Still love the Encore.
Dinner at Prime - was good, service was attentive and talkative in a good way. I realized for the first time that "good" waiters are in the same business I'm in...salesman. Very good but not great, especially for the price. We won't likely be back. Pre-dinner drinks at the Hyde Lounge was fun. Service was slow but the view (awesome) and the hot waitresses made it. Probly will hit the place again - wifey liked it a lot.
Gambled mostly at Cash-in Royale (my wife's name for the place) and the Tropicana. Both were fun but brutal money-wise this time around.
After reading the VT review of Bally's steak house we went there. Other than slightly overcooked filet the place did not disappoint. Never in a million years would we have gone there and we had an absolute blast. Martinis & shrimp. Steak. Asparagus. Bernaise. Old school and an excellent value. I would not hesitate to take anyone there.
Second half of the week we slid down to the Four Seasons. Didn't really appreciate the place until we spent the day at the pool. Service that the Tower Suites pool can only dream of. Endless pitchers of ice water and frozen berries. When my wife woke me up out of a drunken doze to say the pool boy was handing out red/white/blue frozen bomb popsicles like we had when we were kids...that's service.
MGM south strip properties continue to suck balls. If it wasn't for the 4 Seasons pool we would never consider venturing down there again.
Went to the Chuckle Hut at the Tropicana for our comedy night. The headliner was the pizza delivery guy from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He was dry and thoughtful and entertaining once he quit swearing for no reason/comedy value.
Another successful honeymoon Vegas vacation - hope I don't come across as too much of a complainer. We really do love the town...my liver still hurts.

Good stuff...I hate it when my liver hurts...

Solid report, your complaints sound like many I've read from other places, so they didn't seem over abundant to me, plus it sounds like you managed to just go with it anyway and not let it bother your vacation, which is all you can really do.

I take it you went from Encore over to Wynn for the "Tower Suites Pool?"

Yes, the Tower Suites pool area is located at the Wynn. Encore Tower Suites guests have access.
More items from the trip:
People-watching from the front sidewalk rail at the PBR Rock Bar is not to be missed. Grab a pitcher of beer mid day, sit and watch street hawkers interact with the county fair menagerie passing by. It's become our new tradition.
Never made it to the Mandarin Bar this time - too "busy", but hoo boy is it nice for a late evening cocktail.
There's no official VT review, but at least once each trip we enjoy dinner at the bar at Japonaise. Thin sliced steak on a hot rock along with stone crab sushi and huge glasses of wine. Mmmm good.
Porn slappers - we pretend we don't notice them and swerve in their direction. They back away like we're on fire. Must be some law that they can't touch anyone. This move can be carried to a hilarious extent.
Anyone on the street asks where we're from - we say "Henderson". That shuts em up.
