The Starlite Theater at The Riviera?

Started by Stosh on Friday, 5th October 2012 6:45 pm

Mrs. Stosh and I are thinking of checking out a comedy show at the Starlite Theater at the Riviera. Part of the reason we want to go is because of the history of the space. I'm having trouble finding much info on the history or current condition of the theater.

Is there real history in that theater?

Is it still somewhat intact as far as a few architectural details?

Any help appreciated, and if anyone can point me towards info on any type of vegas history website I'd be quite thankful.

The Starlight Theater currently has a rotation between Amy Schumer and Andrew Dice Clay, I have seen both of their shows, Amy's was hands down better, but Dice was somewhat enjoyable.

The theater is pretty small, there are tables/booths on the floor, a chaired middle section, and another section in the way back that was just rows of chairs. Dice's Show used mainly the floor and a little of the middle, Schumer's show had the entire place packed (there was a groupon so that brought a lot of people in).

The theater is in a remote corner of the casino, it's nothing too special, but it has a very old vegas vibe (VIP booths, tables on the floor, bar outside and waitresses carrying giant trays of drinks around).

You can find a link to the Shows HERE...would I go out of my way to see a show there probably not, but if someone you want to see it there it's a nice little venue to check out, plus they have a mini Pinball Hall Of Fame set up by the theater esclators which is pretty nice as well

Nice, thanks.

Natasha Leggero is pretty cunty; most of her stuff is harsh and aggressive in the spirit of Rickles, Dice, or Schumer.

I'm thinking it's worth the $50 just to support comedy, so combined with your review, I'd say it's a go. Wish I hadn't just missed the Groupon. I guess I better go advanced through Ticketbastard.

you can probably get tickets via Tix4Tonite or one of the other discounters

I know with tix4tonite you have to wait until day-of.

Is there any other discounter anyone has had luck with? I like to remain flexible, but we do tend to lock in plans for saturday nights.

Also, anyone else with thoughts or experiences about the Starlite, please share. ;-)

A major scene from the movie "Casino" was filmed at the Starlight. I saw Pat diNuzio there about a year ago and it looked just like as it was in the movie.

Thanks-

Any little slivers of history are worth the time and effort for the wife and I.

Can't wait!
