I thought since this topic has been so popular in years past, I thought I'd I'd steal it and throw it out there again for the board discussion
What are your 2013 predictions for Las Vegas?
Here are some from the past:
2012 Predictions
2011 Predictions
Will this be the year, someone gets the Mirage will be sold right?
How about Cosmo, Echelon,Rio?

Another property will "sub-out" its room operations to a non-gaming hotel operator (like the Trop/Doubletree deal).
LINQ (is it still all caps these days?) will open, but there will be extensive tennant turnover...CET will give up and hire Simon or Westfield to fill it with all the same stores you see at your mall at home.
More Happy Hours...even on The Strip.
More national chains will take over older restaurants at older properties (like the Ruth's Chris' takeover of Range).
No new Cirque show will open...or close.
Psychic Sylvia Brown will headline...maybe not on the strip, but somewhere. She's been making a lot of appearances at Indian Casinos here in northern California and must be developing some kind of show...tickets haven't been cheap.
jinx73 replied on Monday, 24th December 2012
Sylvia has been running a show for a while now, she typically performs at Excal in Vegas, but only every couple months, with John Edward at Flamingo.
NeverJustJ replied on Thursday, 27th December 2012
Excal is a perfect spot for her. I remember watching her on local TV talk shows as a kid. Then she kind of dropped off the radar until maybe two years ago when I saw her doing shows at Indian casinos.

SLS will continue to blunder in trying to line up the remaining financial pieces.
The Downtown Grand will not open and be delayed until Spring 2014
The Tamares Group will be told to either get a gaming license or sell their holdings in Nevada.
The SkyVue Wheel project will still remain stalled and be yet another eyesore on The Strip.
Something is finally done about the costumed characters on The Strip and on Fremont Street after a major incident involving them makes international news.
Yet another Wynncore restaurant will close and be replaced by a restaurant named after one of Steve Wynn's dogs.....
Vince Neil will perform at the 2013 VIMFP after-party.......

woof. ouch!

Reading those old threads is quite a thrill. Lots of spot on predictions from The Smartest Vegas Freaks on the Internets... impressed.
I'll throw out a couple....
MGM will sell Mirage to Ruffin.
LVH will become The International.
Carlos N Charlies will close.
Wynn will buy the New Frontier property at foreclosure and sit on it until Cotai goes vertical, then announce a new French/Chinese indoor/outdoor water themed LV property that has the same name as the Cotai property in mid-2014.
China Poblano will completely abandon the Chinese food menu.
Cosmopolitan will be bought by MGM.
Fontainebleau will be bought by an independent Strip operator I can't name publicly.
At least one of the old Light Group night clubs will close.
Pure will be taken over by Victor Drai.
Wynn will be rocked by a drug scandal in their nightclubs.
vespajet replied on Friday, 21st December 2012
Some really good ones there.
Malibugolfer replied on Friday, 21st December 2012
Drugs in nightclubs?? Say it ain't so!
Diablo replied on Friday, 21st December 2012
>Cosmopolitan will be bought by MGM.
fingers crossed!!! but what will happen to your buddy unwin? :D
ultimately id like to see cosmo buy the jockey club, blow that up, and expand the cosmo casino.
StudiodeKadent replied on Saturday, 22nd December 2012
If MGM sells Mirage and buys Cosmo, that would be cool, and since they have approval to build a new resort on Cotai it is fair to say they'll be likely able to afford it over the long run.
Let's hope that if they DO buy Cosmo, the C will go back to paying 3:2 on their double deck, and they start offering nice S17 shoe games at 25/50 mins. And replacing those 8d games with 6d games would be nice...
And yeah, if they buy Cosmo I'll stay at Cosmo at least once.
Duffman replied on Saturday, 22nd December 2012
"Fontainebleau will be bought by an independent Strip operator I can't name publicly."
Sounds pretty coy to me....care to share a little more? (Please)
NeverJustJ replied on Saturday, 22nd December 2012
Don't hold your breath on anything happening to the Jockey Club...other than it just plugging along...

Christina Aguilera will do the same as a comeback attempt at CP..
Hash House A Go Go will close its Plaza location..
Criss Angel will end his gig at the Luxor, citing creative differences...

Clark County will face a decision on what will be done with the Monorail and if it will continue to operate.
vespajet replied on Saturday, 22nd December 2012
I think you may be right about Hash House's Plaza location. Something major may be about to go down there, as with the sudden closure of pretty much their entire showroom line, word is that one of the producers is looking into having the operations at the Plaza investigated. This is where my prediction about the owner of The Plaza and Vegas being told to get licensed or sell out comes from. I didn't realize until recently how much involvement Anthony Cools had in the property, as he ran the showroom, had shows in it, had his bar and even has a hair salon in it. He's going to be completely out of the Plaza in February when he lease of the hair salon is up. You really have to wonder about the folks running the place.
I also agree about Peepshow closing. Coco is contracted through early March and I suspect she won't be re-signed and considering her arrival in the show started during a dead period in Vegas doesn't bode well either. I don't think the producers can afford to have a rotating cast of performers playing Bo Peep until they find one that fits the show.

Vegas Strip will cover someone at next year's VIMP getting busted on the Strip trying to kick Criss Amgel's ass
One of the planned big ass Ferris wheels will not open.
Sam Nazarian will admit that the Sahara will never reopen under any name
The Harmon will still stand there as a beacon to over development until the end of the year.

Peepshow will close by april as all 50 people who wanted to see CoCo as a lead will have gone to the show.
Bagatelle will be closed before Peepshow
The DJs at Mega Clubs Deals will get so sick that Wynn offers to Rename Wynn Cotai into Wynn Deadmau5 or Wynn Skrillex to keep them on board.
Rehab will leave the Hard Rock Casino and Hard Rock will either be sold or close
The Quad will actually be a nice place (well other than the non renovated rooms)
After removine the Doodie, The Bill's Boutique Hotel Project will not open as scheduled, will be way over budget and will end up being a flop
Every casino restaurant will either be a chain or celebrity chef owned establishment, no more independent cafes or casino ran places.
Atleast one Strip Buffet will close for "a remodel" and never reopen.
Cirque will close the Criss Angel show for a "retooling" and it will be detooled as Criss is kicked out
The Citque MJ show will actually not suck
One Long Running Cirque Show will close or not renew it's contract.
None of the shows at the Venetaian/Palazzo will have a run longer than a year

Yes, the Mirage will be sold by the end of the 1st Qtr 2013; guaranteed!
Duffman responded on Thursday, 27th December 2012
With MGM refinancing, does anyone think this changes the chance of Mirage being sold?:

Drake responded on Saturday, 29th December 2012
1. The Downtown Grand WILL open in 2013, and will offer a surprisingly decent alternative for former Golden Nugget fans who have had enough of the worst VP pay tables in Las Vegas, bartenders and dealers with "I've got seniority so I don't give a fuck" attitudes, and a pool scene that's ridiculously overrun with young children.
2. The Bill's boutique "hotel & club" project will become the Echelon of the nightclub/dayclub bubble. It will be quietly mothballed in 2013 and reemerge in 2014 with modest upgrades and a new name: O'Sheas.
3. Golden Nugget's Carson Street Cafe will reopen after being shut down by the Health Department for massive violations in December 2012. However, Drake's wife won't get food poisoning there again and spend a night puking her guts out, as she did in July 2012, because she'll never step foot in the place again. More and more GN guests will go next door to DuPars for their breakfasts and lunches.
4. El Cortez finally builds a swimming pool and earns the undying affection, gratitude and patronage of guests who enjoy great gambling, great rates, and a little poolside relaxation.

I'm late to the party on this again this year, but I did want to throw out some predictions for this year. I really enjoyed reading everyone's 2012 predictions, although I think we didn't go as bold as we all did in 2011.
In 2013:
Rio, Mirage, and Excalibur will all be sold.
Building on my call of 2012, the Big Wheel will not spin.
Alluding to another post, I think the Paris balloon does get painted!
Carlos and Charlie's survives until '14. And two other painfully bad chains open in major casinos by year end.
Flamingo expands the Margaritaville casino.
Cosmo seriously lowers the quality of food at the Wicked Spoon.
No new clubs are announced and three close.
