Marrandino quits AC, Vegas return?

Started by jinx73 on Tuesday, 8th January 2013 10:10 am

I read a report that Don Marrandino quit CET, where he was sent after reviving the Flamingo and other properties in Las Vegas. I always thought it was a longshot for him to get same traction in AC and it looks like it didn't work out.

I'll be curious to see if he lands back in Las Vegas. While many look at the Flamingo as a dump and it's certainly deteriorated, it was a real dump with no draws prior to him taking over and bringing in Braxton, Osmonds, and some of the other entertainment and overseeing the GO room renovations.

It's got to be tough working for CET in Atlantic City, and I'm sure he gave it his all. Even though he's originally an east coaster, I suspect he'll come back to Vegas unless, as a long shot, Revel brings him in to try to save the property.

I wonder if Murren would welcome Marrandino to bring some life to buttoned down MGM after all the recent departures. In addition to a long time at STN, he also worked for Steve Wynn. Would Wynn be interested, or did they not get along? I'm sure he'll land on his feet.

I agree, I thought AC was a long shot, but given his track record a good choice at the time. Just from a pure outsider's view, my money would be on somewhere like Wynn, I wonder what his relationship with Marilyn was. MGM doesn't seem as interested under Murren in championing property presidents, although I have no basis for that statement, just seems like they've taken a more corporate style demeanor.
