Nice summation of Mandalay Bay's upcoming renovations. Interesting that Mandalay's casino has not been renovated since the place opened. WIll be interesting to see what the renovations will entail.

Sounds good, I wish that MGM cared about some of their other properties as much. If they aren't going to keep Luxor, Excaliber, and NYNY looking decent, maybe they can sell them and just cater to mid and high rollers.

Didn't they recently renovate NYNY and Luxor's casino floors?

They have, but overall they have let the Luxor, Excaliber, and NYNY kind of fade away. Either keep the theme and embrace it, or sell it to someone that will. I'm tired of the dethemeing of Vegas.

Although they may not have rennovated the casino, they did rip out the center bar and add in the eyecandy lounge (which I firmly believe was a big mistake). While all these changes sound good, at best they are incremental improvements and are more accurately viewed as straight up replacements (e.g. Red Square for new Reg Square). It is also clear there is no coherent overall plan and we will continue to see the original theme fade out of existence.
Not mentioned in the article is a planned overhaul of the sportsbook bar. The bartenders said it is to begin right after the superbowl.

Totally agree with you about the Eyecandy lounge. Mandalay's casino IMHO kind of has a giant warehouse vibe to it b/c of the high ceilings (it feels really open - kind of similar to Palazzo's casino). I actually prefer the openness and hope they don't mess with it too much.

Love his comment about Teh Hotel - the "Abbott & Costello" hotel. I'm curious what Delano does with it, though the location will still almost certainly prevent me from staying there.

I kind of like the way the casino is laid out now but Vegas is all about change.
