Caesars Palace Resort Fee

Started by cdnmike28 on Friday, 22nd March 2013 6:09 am

I am aware that Caesars has added the $25 resort fee because their guests "demanded" it,but what I am confused on is the internet connection included in this fee. It doesn't appear to be Wi-Fi, and is limited to once device. I am staying in the Octavius tower next week and was hoping to connect with either my Ipad or Iphone. Does anyone know if this is possible without paying the extra charge for Wi-Fi, or will I have to bring my laptop so that I can connect via a Ethernet cable? Any information would be appreciated.

The consensus seems to be that it's not wifi...just a wired connection. Your best bet is to call the property to be sure.

I know this seems ridiculous, but...I did it for years before wifi was common. You can goto your local Office Depot, purchase a $40 wireless router, pack it in your suitcase, when you get to your hotel room, plug it into the ethernet connection and have your own wifi for as many devices as you'd like without having to pay the wifi charge per day/per device. Depending on how long you'll be there, you'll most certainly come out cheaper.

I suspect that won't work. Since they're trying to limit the connection to one device I bet you have to start your browsing on a special landing page and enter a code/password so the system can "lock in" your machine.

Oh, you may be right. It worked 10 years ago...pre wifi. Depends on whether or not they're looking at IP addresses or MAC addresses I guess. If they're just looking at IP addresses, the system will just see the IP of the router and not the devices on the wifi side. Since they're providing free wired with the resort fee, I wouldn't think you'd have to put a code in...but if so, I think you'd only have to put it in once...and then be able to switch devices on your LAN side.

Don't know about the wi-fi, but you should be able to plug i-thingee into the connection, and watch any videos from your ipad on your TV, when I stayed in the Octavius towers (not the Augustus towers alas), they have an Apple plug in to connect your gadget right to the TV (as a DVD player), and you can watch all the videos on your gizmos! So you could save on your pay per view orders :)

The resort fee includes Wi-Fi internet for 1 device in the room each day that you are paying the resort fee.

Thanks for the input everyone, I called CP today and it is my understanding that it is infact Wi-Fi limited to one device.
