Car rental upgrades

Anyone have any experience of getting an upgrade on a car rental at Mccarran? Something along the lines of tipping the attendant to get access to a better car (similar to the $20 sandwich)
I have a midsize from Hertz at the end of next month, wondering if I can do better for minimal cost.

Usually when buying the coverage the clerk will upgrade you. But that isn't cheap. The other way I use to try was rejecting whatever car they directed me to for superficial reasons. Especially when they don't have a lot of cars.

The last time I went, I rented a subcompact. They offered a Nissan or a Toyota to me and I was like, "mehhhh... do you have anything bigger available?" looking at my bags. The attendant checked his clipboard and then offered us a 4-door GMC Canyon pickup, brand-new, no miles on it. I happily took the truck. So, yes, if you are unhappy with what they first offer you, they will find you something else. It's such a huge operation, there are always cars available that someone didn't pick up, didn't like, etc.

By the way, I ALWAYS rent from Enterprise. Not always the cheapest, but they've always taken care of me and I've had ZERO problems from them!
