Britney in Summer 2014
Started by adztheman on Tuesday, 17th September 2013 7:59 am
One of my friends is set to see Britney at the PHo likely in the summer of 2014...her requirements are, in no particular order..location, pool, food, nightlife..she and her girlfriends are all late 20s..
I've just spent about 30 minutes with her on Facebook this morning...she's looking at Flamingo as a first choice...I've suggested Palms, Hard Rock, and Mandalay Bay..with the Quad, Silver Seven, and Luxor as more economy based choices...
Anybody else wish to chime in? She's been to Vegas before, its been well over five years for her..
As for me, my traveling companions have already selected Valentine's Weekend 2014 to see Britney...which means I have several more months to play MyVegas and secure rooms...

food, not a check (although Linq will be open by then)
nightlife, not a check.

Chuck I may send this young lady your review of the Flamingo..a part of me hates to do it, but in the interests of full disclosure, I may have to...
I think she may now be leaning to Mandalay Bay, per my suggestion, since, if you're going to stuff a bunch of girls into one room, you have a huge bathroom with all sorts of room for girly stuff, and its a pretty comfy room overall..plenty of room to pass out drunk, with a nice pool area to boot..

Love Mandalay Bay, but for location you are f'd. It is so far from everything else, so if you plans include other center strip fun it might be a bad choice. I would say you try to see what deals Paris has. Good location, food all around, pool is good (not great), also decent nightlife around too.

If Mandalay Bay was located Center Strip, I would stay there every time I stayed on The Strip.

If MB were located center Strip, they could double their rates.

That's a good idea..I'd not considered Paris, but I'm not terribly knowledgeable of the property, having maybe been in it once or twice, and getting angry cause I couldn't find the way out one night...

-- MGM offers a fair amount of stuff on her shopping list and is close enough to the Trop and Hard Rock.
-- Treasure Island has inexpensive rooms at the other "end" of the Strip, but I can't speak to their quality.
-- Bally's will have some renovated rooms and is connected to Paris, but there might be construction noise.

Vdara. It's located close to Aria, Bellagio, and Cosmo (All of which cover the food and club elements.) and Planet Hollywood is a short walk away. I didn't venture to the pool at Vdara, but could see it from my room and it does seem like a good pool complex.

This may sound silly, but why not just stay at PH? I have not stayed there personally ( but will be in just a few weeks). The room is comped so don't know about the rates but I don't think they are to bad. Plus the location is great and I hear ( & have seen) a younger crowd on casino floor is always present.

I would 1st like to ask you, what is her preference to pay less or is the price irrelevant? Does the hotel have to have the location, pool, food and night life? Or does it just need to have them close by?

I'd say her instincts are good on the Flamingo choice. The party is the thing, not the room, right? Pool and location are ideal, and walking distance to the show and everything else. Hopefully they can spring for a GO room. If they can spring a few extra bucks beyond that, I'd say Mirage. Whatever the case, stay mid-strip.
But seriously, The Quad? You'd do that to a friend? Shame on you!

If she/they can afford it then I'd say Cosmo as that checks off the list with a stellar line-up of everything she wants and is a quick walk over the bridge to PHo. If not, how about Bally's? They've just opened 756 rooms in the South/Jubilee tower that have just been renovated at $99/night! Not bad at all and certainly will be less than Cosmo/Aria/Vdara etc. but is convenient to them all. The Flamingo is a dump now. Even if you can get a GO Room (and I used to like staying in those), you have to make it through the smelly casino, trash strewn/spilled drink filled elevators, and long hallways of stained/ripped carpet. Bally's just seems cleaner.

The obvious choice with price as no object is Wynn, that's where the real party girls stay. But I like the shout for Vdara personally. If you don't care about gambling but want modern amenities, Vdara has them at a lower price because casino using patrons don't really want to stay there. If budget is really a central issue, the Trop might be worth a go. The pool is pretty good, the prices are low and the food/nightlife is an easy walk or cab away

I'll also chime in with Cosmo.
PH would be a good idea too but the pool is just so-so.
