So...Stations is opening a Native American casino about 25 miles from my house next month. It will be the largest in northern California and looks pretty impressive online and on their social media feeds (see it at GratonResortCasino.com). Do I want to go on opening day? Based on "standard" regional traffic conditions my guess is the opening will probably double the travel time...meaning it will take me 70 to 90 minutes to get there.

If you can attend the opening, you should. My wife and I have been at several casino openings, including Aria, Palazzo and Encore in Vegas, and Ameristar Black Hawk which is close to home. It is always exciting and fun (aside from Chuck's Cosmo nightmare) and at the ones we have attended there have been prizes and giveaways and commemorative casino chips. Consider spending the night before somewhere close to the new casino if traffic will indeed take 90 minutes. Have fun!!

interesting. it seems like station is getting back to managing tribal casinos again. thunder valley used to be managed by them back in the day. they're supposed to be managing a tribal casino in central ca as well. i'm assuming it'll have the same floor layout and design as red rock and green valley.

Haven't been to Red Rock, but Graton is almost identical to Thunder Valley. There's a giant skylight in the center, over the center bar which, strangely, does not have bar top gaming?!?
