Hi, everyone. I've been trying to plan for my MM trip and there are just too many variables and it's beginning to make me nauseous. My wife is not helping, so I thought advice from people that actually like Vegas might help.
After much debate, I decided to make the trip for March 20-23, even though it is an expensive, crowded weekend. As far as the room goes, I am going between Vdara or Mirage. For past MM visits, I've been at the Mirage and I like the atmosphere. As far as I'm concerned, I prefer to stay at a casino hotel, but if my wife accompanies me I thought Vdara might be better since it would be quiet and the pool would be less crowded (?). The rooms are basically the same exact price. My issue is that I'd still like to hang at the Mirage and know it is a bit of a walk from the Vdara.
Do I go for the excitement of Mirage (even though I know it will be a madhouse), or Vdara for less crowds (?) and more walking? Please help. I'm getting a headache from this crap and just want to book already. Thanks!!

If you want to relax, go to Palm Springs. If you want to go to Vegas, stay at the Mirage. Solved.

That's pretty funny. The alternate plan was for her to stay home and we'd take a future trip to PS together.

Also, don't make the pool a major factor in your decision. Mid-March weather in Vegas might be pool friendly, but could just as easily be 50 degrees and windy.

I can't believe I would ever say this, but; did you consider staying at Trump? Seems like it has the reputation of being a quiet, non-gaming hotel with a good pool, and is much closer to Mirage.

Reminds me of one of the first times I went to Vegas with a buddy - We got rip roaring buzzed (not drunk but darn close) and wanted to bar hop/check out all the casinos on the strip and grabbed a taxi to the Trump from the Palms. (Hey, why else would Trump build a place out in Vegas?!) There a wonderful doorman let us in and we proceeded to find the casino... 5 minutes later the cheerful doorman let our sheepish selves out and even let us take a photo with him to honor our naivety.
Our running joke to all vegas new comers is to be sure to check out the casino at the Trump!
