Culinary union calls for strike against 9 downtown casinos

Affected properties:

The D
El Cortez
Four Queens
Golden Gate
Las Vegas Club
Main Street Station
The Plaza

The Golden Nugget reached a new five year deal several weeks back. The California Hotel & Casino is unaffected as it is a non-union property. The Downtown Grand is not included in this strike either (I'm not sure if they are a union property or not as the Culinary Union's informational site doesn't mention them at all, either as a union property or as a non-union/don't patronize property.).

Hopefully this won't be a lengthy strike or new deals are reached prior to the strike date.

El Cortez and Binion's have apparently settled but some are going to wait it out I guess. Pickets do not look good so I believe all will settle before the weekend.

As of 5:50 PM Vegas time on 5/28/2014, there are no reports in the local media about a deal at Binion's. I would venture to guess that any deal with Binion's would be alongside a deal with sister property Four Queens.

Fremont and Main Street have settled according to Eater Vegas.

We're getting down to the wire now, but after all the good will and business The D and Golden Gate have brought downtown, I can't imagine Derek Stevens not working some deal before Sunday morning's deadline.

Eater Vegas says the D has made a tentative deal and the number of places without a deal has gone down to five. Those five are: Four Queens, Binion's (which couldn't close a deal), The Plaza, Las Vegas Club and Golden Gate. With two days to go I don't know if all will make a deal by the deadline.

With the rumors about Las Vegas Club converting the casino floor to a CVS and the hotel rooms into condos, I doubt we'll see a deal there.

According to reports, there are not any negotiations planned between Culinary and the Golden Gate prior to the 5 AM Sunday strike date.

I hope this is settled before my annual pilgrimage to Downtown the week of the 16th-20th. At least the Nugget is good to go since we're staying there. I like playing at the Golden Gate though. Have any of you been in Vegas for a strike? What goes on in front of the properties involved?

EDIT: I should have checked the LVRJ first. It's all settled.
