$5 craps at Caesars?

So I was wondering through Caesars last night (Saturday) and saw something a bit unusual that Id never believe if I hadn't seen it for myself: a $5 craps table In Caesars Palace? I walked up and asked the dealers all of whom had been there for a number of years and were equally amazed that's this was happening. Granted it was in the forum casino pit, but still even the quad had $10 minimums that night.

Anybody else ever come across what appears to be an impossibly low table limit in Vegas?

I love low-limit craps and can't think of an instance at which a top-tier casino had craps under $10. Casino Royale has that $3 table running 24/7. Downtown probably has a lot of $5 tables, and Ellis Island on Koval Lane has an early-evening "happy hour" with $3 craps. Good luck!

I have been going to Vegas since 1989. In the last 5-7 years I have found it very rare to see a $5 craps table. Especially in the evening. My old standby use to be Casino Royale for $3 Craps with 100X odds. But I have been at the Royale on select nights and even seen their pit with only $10 Craps tables.

In the daytime, on occasion, I have seen places like MGM Grand and Planet Hollywood with $5 tables.

What I have heard of people doing is asking the dealer/pit boss if they will lower the minimum to $5 during off times. Some people have had success with this. I'm assuming select places (i.e. most Caesars properties and low to mid end MGM places) may go for this as you are basically offering to give them money since the odds are in their favor and they would have rather have one patron at a table rather than none. Also, if it gets busy they can just jack up the rates for new people who come to the table.

I doubt that places like Bellagio, Venetian/Palazzo, and Wynn/Encore would lover their rates to $5, but I have never made such a proposition. Has anyone else?

I came across a $5 BJ table at Bellagio 2 years ago. It even paid 3:2! Probably felt similar to your experience.

The low rider handicapable table at Bellagio is always $5 from my experience.

Per Blackjacker and some other blackjack aficionados, the Bellagio table is no longer a regular staple of the floor at $5. Sad to see it go.

I saw it in May when we stayed there. Maybe they change the limit at certain times now.

I was going to mention the $5 BJ at Bellagio, too, although the last time I was there (about a year ago), I think it was a $10 table. You'll be able to spot it during busy times by looking for the large crowd of people waiting for a vacant seat. It does pay 3:2, but has an automatic shuffling wheel.

Yep it was the handicap one, but during my Dec trip it was $10 every time I walked by. I assumed it had been permanently raised.

I have seen these $5 craps tables at select strip joints (um... that's joints on the strip) on rare weekend occasions, but I have seen them. Normally day or graveyard when the weekend is expected to be very slow. Seeing on a Saturday night seems very odd to me.

It was very strange. All the tables in the forum were suprisingly low. $5 craps and $5 3-card, $10 BJ and Roulette. The dice crew had all worked there 30+ years and hadn't see it that low in forever. It didn't offer hop bets or any sort of long roll side bet, but that shouldn't make a difference.

Was the Big C celebrating some sort of anniversary, one marked with rollback/yesteryear limits at the tables?

Caesars have a $5 min on 3CP due to the $1M 6 card bonus bet.

Last May when I was out there for Donnymac's wedding, Cosmo had $5 craps during the morning on Thursday and Friday.

One time in AC a high roller at the Taj requested a table be made $5 (while the other tables were $10) because he didn't like to roll the dice and wanted the table to be as full as of many players as possible. I think the guy was a don't bettor, but my friend and I (right bettors) had one of our best craps sessions ever, and the high roller didn't want us to leave, saying "I'll keep losing if you guys stay!"

Craps is such a fun game.....granted, a cold table sucks as much as anything, but its not as frustrating as having a blackjack dealer consistently beat your 20s with 21s, etc.

I saw Lewis Black about 10 years ago at Mohegan Sun, and he was talking about his first time playing craps that day. He said something along the lines of "you watch all the other games, and they are all quiet - heads down, no talking. Then you go play craps, and everyone is yelling and having a good time. I think i even heard the shooter say 'come on, my duck needs a new pair of tits!'"
