$20 Trick

Going to Reno next month. Should I try the "$20 Trick"? My two night stay, in a room I'm OK with, was only $98 total, so if it worked, I'm sure the room would be great. Since the Reno economy is still kind of messy I wonder if $10 would work?

Review the website online. Know what room you want to be upgraded too. If there is only one room option on the website, there's probably nothing to be upgraded to. The more you know...

This hotel (www.SandsRegency.com) pretty much gives you all the information you need right on their site including the "rack rate" to upgrade and actual room numbers or inventory available for each room type. $20 gets you one of six rooms with a balcony, which would be fun OR a bed on a raised platform and a small, non-stocked wet bar (Woo Hoo!). $50 gets you a variety of rooms with jacuzzi tubs in various kind of silly locations...not interested...maybe I'll take the standard room I booked and save the twenty bucks!
