"The Lure of Las Vegas"

subtitled: A Kick in the Head
...Alan Yentob's fascinating 75min one-off TV programme, with some great contributors - catch it if you can (don't know if it'll make it to the US on BBC World or something; first aired tonight at 8pm in the UK on BBC2).
And from it couple of choice quotes:
"People when they're not interested in gambling, and they're not interested in sex; they say 'well what's it all about?' Well, it's all about what you didn't come here for!"
Dave Hickey, Art Critic. (Made me laugh).
"It was like the toilet of the United States... just with great lighting."
Mike Figgis, Author. (Made me laugh more - he really doesn't like the place, does he?).

I'll check it out on tomorrow's re-air, even if it does have both Brandon Flowers and WFN.
ITV1 did probably the best Vegas doc just a few months ago with Piers Morgan in Las Vegas, as it even covered the corpses of FBlue and Echelon, foreclosure city, and the crisis at Lake Mead. It even had brief chats with Robert Earl and Jim Murren.
Unfortunately, it was loaded with product placement and Morgan all too happily fell for the veiled marketing message that Vegas is about having fun and not at all about fleecing people's money, but what do you expect from the same channel who can dedicate half of The X-Factor to pitching a new movie.

The main product placed in Morgan's show was Paris Hilton wasn't it?

Her appearnace was fairly justified. Her mention of how much she gets paid just to say "Happy New Year" pretty much summarizes Vegas night clubs nice and quickly.
Stallone was there to ramble about his bad gambling luck and promote his movie, which Morgan rambled the cast list of and the production guys showed trailer footage.
And yet allegedly OfCom denies product placement in programming. Could have fooled me!
