According to the agoda.com travel booking site, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in CityCenter is only a three star hotel.
Agoda is a travel site that is part of Priceline.
You can see the rating for youself at http://www.agoda.com/north_america/united_states/las_vegas_nv/mandarin_oriental_las_vegas_hotel.html

hah. i thought this was going to be some ridiculous TA-style review.
thats even sillier. no one looking to book will be affected by that.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll offer it up at a 3 star price.

Looking at this site, it's a bit of a joke as their star ratings and geography are bit off.
They list the LV Hilton, Greek Isles, and the Sahara as being Downtown/Fremont Street, but list Circus Circus correctly (The Strip), but also list the Strat as being on The Strip (Technically the Strip ends at Sahara and even the Nevada Gaming Commission doesn't consider it to be a Strip casino.). Even crazier, they list Harrah's, Wynn (but not Encore), the Venetian (but not the Palazzo), the PHo, Paris, the Trop, and Barbary Coast (Yes, despite the name changing three years ago, they still list it as the Barbary Coast.) as being East of the Strip (Yeah if Dean Martin Drive was The Strip.......).

Yeah but here is the $64,000 question: Since Agoda is part of Priceline, does it mean that Priceline considers Mandarin Oriental also a 3 star hotel? And if it does, could someone bidding on a 3 star on Priceline actually end up with the MO?

They're on the east SIDE of the strip, but not really east OF the strip - i would consider the Hard Rock to be east OF the strip. that might be what they meant. i'd have to see how they classify stuff on the other side of the block.

They've got properties next door to each other listed as two different areas. Encore is listed as "The Strip", but Wynn is listed as "East Of The Strip". Same with Venetian, they list it as "East Of The Strip" but Palazzo is listed as being on "The Strip". I would consider properties like the LV Hilton, the Hard Rock, Hooters, Terrible's, Tuscany, Westin Casuarina, Ellis Island Super 8 as being "East Of The Strip". Anything on Koval or Paradise is definitely "east of the Strip" in my mind.

I'd be very surprised if you got MO for a 3 star price, the setting of their star levels are as much based on the 'lowest' price the resort will offer as any kind of arbitrary rating they assign to the resort.
That's not to say it can't happen, although I wouldn't imagine it happens more then a couple times before being resolved.

Part of Priceline. According to PL, Luxor is four stars. That's the same as the M, Mirage, Mandalay Bay, Paris, TI, and a whole host of other hotels.
Epic fail.
