May Tunica Trip

Well better late than never right? I spent along weekend for free thanks to the algorithms in the Total Rewards computer at Harrahs in Tunica. The room was a good room. Not a Vegas standard, but Hampton Inn meets Harrah's standard. Harrah's Tunica bills itself as the largest casino between Atlantic City and Vegas. Friday night there was no minimums on any table games under $10 bucks and it was pretty crowded. They do have Tunica's version of an Ultra Lounge. I didn't care for the location of the Harrah's casino up all by itself in the north end of the casino area. Plus, you had to take a shuttle from the Veranda and Terrace wings of the hotel to the casino. So I strolled down to Sam's Town on the South end of the casino area in Tunica. $5 minimums on everything. $10 double deck blackjack that paid 3:2 for blackjack, and 50x craps odds. It was laid back and what I was looking for on Friday night just watch out for the crock that is called crapless craps table. Played about $200 between the BJ and Craps tables, and called it a night. The dealers weren't the sharpest, but friendly. The drink service was frequent and complimentary, all you could ask for. The floor isn't anywhere near as big as Harrahs, but it wasn't crowded and had any table game you could play in Vegas.

Saturday it was all about mini-bac and the Horseshoe. They had a deal going on if you were a total rewards member and played for 30 minutes you would be comped a buffet. I took advantage of that. The dealers were good and friendly. Once again the drink service was on the money. After dropping the same amount as the night before and having a great time. The Horseshoe is a sizeable casino. When I strolled in on Saturday evening $5 games could be found. The Harrah's family 6:5 blackjack hadn't migrated there, and craps odds were 20x. The floor at the Horseshoe is a pretty good size. Blackjack a plenty, plenty craps tables, and any other table game you'd want.

The moral of the story(offers during or received after trip):

Harrah's Total Rewards (Harrah's, Sharaton, Horseshoe): Comped buffet during trip. Offered $199 round trip airfare from Atlanta(where I am from) to Tunica(not Memphis), transportation to and from Tunica Airport with 2 nights at Harrahs Tunica, some fly in Sat fly out Mon, some fly in Fri fly out Sun.

Club Coast (Sam's Town): 3 nights comped July 1-15th. 3 nights comped July 16-31. 3 nights comped August 1-15.

Horseshoe lowered craps odds to 20X? This place had 100x last time I was there. But I have not been to Tunica for a year now. I stopped going to Tunica due to craps conditions getting really bad (crews not as friendly, pit bosses being jerks, overcrowded tables). I play craps at the other MS casinos instead and still getting 20X at all casinos I play except the Beau Rivage (10x).
