(Cue: 1960s Batman TV show chase fight music)

Could it be????? The very same glut of CityCenter room capacity that shuttered hotel rooms at Sahara and Binion's? [[[[ POW!!! ]]]] The fact that Mandarin Oriental has blown the traditional Four Seasons-ian concept of a luxury hotel experience out of the water????? [[[[ SOCK!!! ]]]] The damn recession that has raped luxury hotels unlike any other? [[[[ KA-BLAM!!! ]]]]

Whatever it was, it is being reported by America's high school newspaper, USA Today, that Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas will be closing its doors on May 2, 2010.

Vegas is dotted with a number of places that rent exotic cars. For somewhere in the neighborhood of $1500, you too can pretend to own a Ferrari for a 24-hour period.

Worth it? Hardly.

I mean, if you do shell out the dough, you'd have to seek out an empty road near Red Rock Canyon to open her up and let her show you what she's got. Of course, you'll still be at the mercy of traffic laws and radar guns just around the hairpin you took at 75.

But maybe your intentions aren't to press the limits of Italian engineering excellence. Maybe...

» More Thrilling Than Four Splits Against a Dealer Six

The debut edition of Seven Magazine, a new glossy from Wendoh Media (944 etc), features a new column by our very favorite writer on all things Vegas and gambling, Dr. Dave Schwartz.

The inaugural edition of the "Green Felt Journal" is notable, not only because we loooove they way they made Dr. Dave look like the Vulcan elder he pretends not to be in the inset, but because he quoted some of VT's longtime readers, Donnymac66 and RockchickX51 in the column (page 34 on the link above).

We are always and forever grateful to our readers, especially when they send us a doozy of a find. And they don't get much doozier than the doozy that doozy-finding-master mac78130 sent our way a few hours ago.

I present to you interior concept developer, Jeffrey Schneider.

These drawings illustrate an extremely vivid and fanciful concept of the ideas that are currently at work in Wynn's properties. More interestingly, however, are the ideas that never made it passed paper.

Many moons ago, the Admiral leaked a few of Encore's plans teasing us about lush gardens and a "feature" a...

» Wynn Future and Past Concepts: Catch Them While You Can!

For the past five years, one of the most hotly debated questions in all of Las Vegas fandom was "Bellagio vs. Wynn, which one is better and why?"

The opening of Encore in December, coupled with the economic crash let the market make the decision for us. Bellagio lowered its baseline hotel room rates to the high double digits, Wynn & Encore - except during the very worst of it - hovered in the $119 range.

Trippies 2009 results also provide evidence that Wynn and Encore have finally taken the crown from Bellagio. It has been settled via <a...

» Encore vs. Aria
