Real Deal on the Ballys Las Vegas
All it takes is one chemically enhanced ride on the freaky neon blue people mover to fall in love. Even if it smells a little like a municipal pool, Bally's earns points for topiary - they spelled their name out in hedge! Inside, Bally's replaced its mid-80's Atlantic City charm with a perplexing ode to upscale trashiness minus mystery and any trace of fashion. Who cares... this place used to be the MGM Grand before the lion packed up its meat and moved three blocks south.
Seriously though... we love the satin jacket off of Bally's. Where else can the VegasTripper who seeks thrills minus frills lay their hat... Monte Carlo? Bally's has no themes attractions or diversions, nor are there hoity toit shopping promenades or incredibly overpriced night clubs. What you get is a great value and tons of fun.
Tip: The $1 Blazing 7 slots on the Strip side of the table games area dump money at about 1am every night.
Are the vibes lucky at Ballys Las Vegas?
All it takes is one chemically enhanced ride on the freaky neon blue people mover to fall in love. Even if it smells a little like a municipal pool, Bally's earns points for topiary - they spelled their name out in hedge! Since Bally's is connected directly to Paris, expect to see both Ballys and Paris chips on the tables and lots of Parisians. The center of the casino is all $1 slots - nickels are by the Keno pit (hang a right when you enter from the strip). Harrah's has made many adjustments to the joint since they took it over. New carpets were installed in 2006, a poker room (we use that term loosely) was shoehorned into a square where a mondo bank of slots used to be.
Good action, standard strip fare... nothing too fancy, but the table minimums jump to $15-25 on weekends. Head over to O'Shea's if you want cheaper action. Ballys does have a bank of Blazing 7 dollar slot machines that have been quite profitiable for the VT Posse. Their 'poker room' is a nook on the casino floor that they took slots out of... meh. Speaking of gone... Ballys removed the Wheel of Fortune slots in August 2008.
Another interesting thing - they offer massages on the casino floor... aka Casino'ssage.
What casino games are offered at Ballys Las Vegas?
Good action, slightly higher table minimums (usually $10-25 Blackjack on weekends) but always a couple of $5 craps tables. Ballys added a "poker room" in 2004 - basically they pulled out 5 banks of slot machines and threw some poker tables there. Not a 'poker room' per se, but they're usually crowded. Other than that, Ballys hosts all sortsa slots, a Race and Sports Book (way down in the back of the property - you've got to walk through the 'mall' to get there) BlackJack, Baccarat, Craps, Roulette, PaiGow, Caribbean Stud, Let It Ride, Three Card Poker, Mini-Baccarat, Keno and more... The traditional table games are in the main pit and the carnival games are on the elevated portion towards the Sports Book.
Golfer John Daly reportedly lost a coupla million dollars playing a $500 slot machine in the high limit platform - too bad they've never had a $500 slot machine.
Does Ballys Las Vegas have casino comps?
Total Rewards works at all Harrah's properties - Paris, Caesars, Harrah's, & Flamingo.

After the demise of the Stardust, my Husband and I searched and found another Vegas classic. Bally's has what we need and provides an atmosphere where we feel comfortable and relaxed. 2 casino's in 1 with safe passage to Paris, without escort. If you want the Wynn, then book a room and enjoy. If you want a piece of the old Las Vegas charm stay at Bally's. Monarial access and walking distance to 7 other casino's and the last hotel to have a TRUE deep end at he pool.

Terrific mid strip location at very affordable prices. Nice spacious rooms with great views of south strip and bellagio fountains. When i stayed the big kitchen buffet was open which was a great value. Even without it though, id still stay here again. Also, the sterling brunch is Amazing.

My husband and I have stayed here since the demise of the Stardust. Good location, metro rail access, safe passage to Paris and Planet Hollywood( 3 fer one) and one of the last casino's to have a "true " deep end pool and tennis court. If you want to live big ,stay at Bellagio. I f you want a Vegas classic, the last of a dying breed, book Bally's .

A solid classic. Probably the most dependable resort on the Strip. Although a good value, it still manages to hold some class. Maybe it's the old-school vibe or the deep swimming pool. Or the supposed haunted areas. Just please Harrah's, DO NOT implode!

I've stayed at Ballys several times. Ballys offers a good value. Rooms are nothing spectacular, but are large clean and comfortable. I always stay in the north tower deluxe room. Pool is not so hot, but the hotel is connected to Paris. We used the Paris pool, which was relatively nice. The steakhouse is good, but overall restaurants and shopping are limited. Jubilee show is worth seeing once. Price is right is boring if you don't get to play. I got to play, so it was fun for me. Decent casino. Not lucky here.

Nice casino, kind of small. It was the old MGM Grand. Nice indoor connection to Paris, and a great location on the Strip

Old school Vegas on the strip. See if you can find a dealer that was there the night of the fire and get some REALLY interesting stories. Also comfy but not overdone rooms and a great live music lounge right off the casino floor.

The North Tower rooms are great. Not so keen on the South Tower.

I don't know what exactly I like about this place, but it feels like a classic joint that never turned into a dump the way the Sahara and Trop have gone. Jubilee is awesome too.

Central location is a plus. Stayed in a standard king room, which neither impressed or disappointed me. No luck in the casino.

Have not stayed here yet but have gambled here. I like the Keno area. Havent done too good on the slots here yet and I feel that the drink service could be better.

Stayed at Ballys in 2004. One thing I've always respected about Bally's, sans the goofy entrance, is that it doesn't really have a theme. It's just a resort/casino with a really great location. For some, that's enough. Our room was surprisingly large for a standard-size room. We certainly had no complaints with our stay from a service standpoint. My only gripe with Bally's is the walk to the pool. It's a MILE from the rooms! When you get off the elevator you have to walk past the sportsbook and their row of shops to get to the pool area. Granted, I take no shame in displaying my near-nakedness to the discomfort of others, but I feel sorry for those not as sordid as me! Overall.....Bally's is Bally's. It's not Wynn LV. It's not Bellagio. It's Bally's. If you're looking for great location, a suitable room, and no frills........it's a good catch.
