Bill's Gamblin Hall and Saloon - The Real Deal :
Nestled somewhere in the pecking order between Slots-O-Fun and O'Shea's, Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon is pretty much just that... a gamblin' hall and a saloon with a hotel on top. If you were to pluck Bill's from its amazing location - right on the corner of Flamingo Road and The Strip - and plop it, say... a quarter mile east on Flamingo Road where the old Bourbon Street casino used to be, chances are that you would have zero need or interest in going there other than witnessing the marvel that is Big Elvis.
Bill's Gamblin Hall and Saloon History
Barbary Coast changed its name to Bills Gamblin Hall and Saloon (in honor of William 'Bill' Harrah, founder of Harrah's Entertainment) shortly after Harrah's took the place over in February 2007. The current Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon occupies a shoebox sized plot of land on the corner of Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Blvd. Its probably best known as the joint people walk past on their way from Ballys to the Flamingo. The Flamingo had an opportunity to buy this joint when it was just a seedy motel, but declined... gulp.... talk about a missed opportunity. As a result the Coast Casino company bought the motel and built upwards and blocked the view of the Flamingo for north bound travelers on the Strip. Harrah's traded the former Westward Ho! site to Boyd Gaming in exchange for Barbary Coast in late 2006. They changed the name to Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon shortly thereafter.

The Rooms at Bill's Gamblin Hall and Saloon
Bill's remodeled its hotel rooms in 2008, banishing its 1978 bordello chic suites to the trash heap of history. A sad day indeed. Recession busting rates range from $30 to $125 a night on weekends. During the height of the mid 2000's Vegas boom, Bills was commanding weekend rates of $250/night. BWAHAHAH!

Dining options at Bills are slim compared to previous efforts. The Victorian Room is instantly forgettable should you be lucky enough to but The Steakhouse at Bill's continues some of the tradition started by Michael's which has since moved from Bill's to the South Point.

Bill's Gambin' Hall and Saloon has some hopping entertainment in the Lounge most notably - Pete 'Big Elvis' Valee. And when they say 'big', they mean big. Pete voice is fantastically Elvis-like and sounds just great! You have to count on the smaller joints to bring you the wonderfully bizarre.

I like gambling in Bill's first and foremost. Limits are a little high at times for what it is but I was a big fan of $1 bottles of Miller Chill back in October and I do want to stay here in the future because the location cannot be beat.

Love staying at Bills, especially on solo trips. Rooms are fair, nice beds and nice TV. Bathroom is a bit weak. But no one can touch the quick walk from your room to the strip, good coffee shop (Victorian Room), and some of the lowest limits on gambling for a 3 block radius.

The easiest hotel to stay at. Two minutes from your room to the strip. Nice rooms, small bathrooms.

Everyone is always happy here for whatever reason. Caught their $1 drink special during a mid-2005 trip and promptly drank my weight in Red Bull and vodka. The $4-ish after-hours breakfast special is exactly what I want at 4 a.m.

For location on the srip it can't be beat and it has one of the best after hours clubs in Vegas. I liked it more when it was Barbary Coast, but it will do for a low limit casino on the strip

if you have zero plans to eat here and ONLY plan to use this place for the location (and it is a great location, next to Flamingo, and Bally and across LV Blvd from Caesars and the Bellagio) for "just the bed". then this is your place. Beware the desk people not the most friendly and helpful "lost" my reservation, good thing I keep ALL my travel info on my Palm and got my room even after they said there was no reservation and for less than what they wanted to charge me that day. Also steer clear of the room service, wife got food poisoning.

Bill's should be named...Big Elvis's! I stay next door at the Flamingo, but this guy makes the hotel/casino what it is! The crowd loves him and a must see while in Vegas! The slots are fun to play, they pay out!One bad thing, for some reason drinking out of those small glasses, it has a bit of a soap taste to it. It has been that way for years. I am heading back in August! Will let ya know!
