Fontainebleau - The Real Deal :

Fontainebleau's casino will spread over 100,000 square feet and feature 45-foot high ceilings. We expect the usual casino stuff to be present in Fontainebleau, including High Limit gaming salons, tons of slot machines, video poker, poker room, table games and more.

Fontainebleau History

Fontainebleau is currently in limbo Fontainebleau Las Vegas began its gestation period in 2005 after Turnberry Associates (owner/developers of Turnberry Towers) purchased Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami. They immediately began to make plans to not only redesign the legendary Miami resort hotel but to build a new resort in Las Vegas, expanding the Fontainebleau brand. In an age when many resort/condo/hotel projects in Las Vegas were floated as trial balloons, Fontainebleau Las Vegas set itself apart from the competition by naming former Mandalay Resorts honcho Glenn Schaeffer as the head of their Las Vegas operation. Schaeffer is very highly respected in the gaming industry and his attachment to the project ensured to investors and followers of Las Vegas development that the Fontainebleau wasn't a flash in the pan.

Fontainebleau broke ground on construction in early 2007, expecting to open in late 2009, architectural design was done by Bergman, Walls & Associates. The total price tag for the resort is expected to surpass $4 billion dollars - the most expensive non-mixed use resort in Las Vegas. In 2010, Fontainebleau was bought out of bankruptcy by financier Carl Icahn, who promptly sealed the building, halted construction and sold off all the interior furnishings. The fate of Fontainebleau is unknown.

Location of Fontainebleau:

Fontainebleau is located on the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip, north of the Riviera, across the street from Circus-Circus. Another new resort, Crown Las Vegas will be situated between Fontainebleau (to the south) and Sahara (to the north). Crown Las Vegas will be built on the site of the former Wet N' Wild water park.
