Gold Coast - The Real Deal :

Gold Coast is squeegeed between the Rio and Palms. It primarily caters to locals, the old Stardust crowd and budget conscious visitors who are willing to pay for clean, quality rooms in a friendly hotel and don't need a whole bunch of bells and whistles. Local joints usually have better odds, better video poker pay tables and looser slots... if slots or video poker are your game but you still want to have the option to duck into the Palms or Rio to kick up your heals, the Gold Coast is a fantastic option.

Gold Coast History

One of the family of Coast Casinos, Gold Coast was purchased by Boyd Gaming in 2004.

Location of Gold Coast:

Gold Coast is located on Flamingo Road, 1 mile west of the Strip. It is a bit out of the way, but if you're looking to Party at the Palms and don't want to pay top dollar... this is a great option. Rio and Palms are within walking distance, but please be careful crossing the street!

Cool Stuff About Gold Coast:

Gold Coast has a bowling alley!

Free shuttle service to Orleans and Sam's Town.

The Rooms at Gold Coast

Gold Coast offers three types of rooms - standard, premium and deluxe. Your best bet is definitely the Premium rooms which were remodeled in 2008. All of the Gold Coast' room are pretty small - 360 square feet - but are still very well put together and pack a lot of bang for their buck. Premium rooms feature 32" flat panel TVs, free local and toll free calls, wifi and free shuttle service to the strip. Gold Coast is probably one of the best deals you're going to get in Vegas.

Restaurants at Gold Coast

Gold Coast features seven dining options including the Cortez Room casual restaurant, a little more upscale than a cafe, but not as fancy as the high priced restaurants at all the other hotels. Chinese cafe Ping Pang Pong - which is one of the best restaurant names ever! Noodle Exchange - noodle bar. TGIFridays replaced their old 24 hour cafe. Ports O'Call Buffet - prices range from $6 breakfast to $12 dinner. They also offer a Sunday Brunch ($11) and a delicious seafood buffet on Friday night ($17). If you don't have a Club Coast card, the price is a coupla bucks higher. It pays to get a card! Other noshables include a Seattles Best Coffee, Kate's Corner for ice cream and sweets and a TGIFridays too!

Gold Coast Tips

Gold Coast has a free casino shuttle for guests which stops off at the Orleans (for concerts at the Orleans Showroom and Arena) and at Bill's Gamblin Hall and Saloon on the strip next to the Flamingo.

Great place to play BJ and Craps. Pai Gow isn't bad especially if you just want to relax and get a few free beverages.

Say what you will about the old Gold Coast. But it's tough to find a more fun mid-day mid-week craps game and above-average VP. In general, it's an older, more sedate crowd with an older, more sedate staff. But if you need a fun casino afternoon away from the big places, it's a good choice.

Another good place to chuck dice and play cards on the high min Fri/Sat nights. If we're not at the Cal, we're here in the same state of drunkeness...and probably getting worse. At least we haven't been thrown out of this place yet. Only draw back is it can be tuff to get a cab back to Planet HO-Ho at 2am

I like the Gold Coast. When I stay at the Rio and the limits get out of hand, I know I can stumble across the street and get $5 Craps and Blackjack all day long. When I want the amenities of a Strip casino, all I have to do is head back over to the Rio or Plams across the street.

Stayed here for three nights with two of them being comped and was given food credit and slot credits as part of the offer. I've played here several times in the past and had a either a great run or an ice block of a table. My first stay here was neither grand or crappy. The bed was comfortable, but the doors and wall to the hallway are thin. To top it off, there was no in-room safe (boooo). The food choices were alright at best. I'd rather stay at The Orleans.

I will say the cocktail waitress that serves the table games during graveyard was the best! She always had a drink for me everytime she came around. Even when she was taking orders. I forgot her name but she's from Hawaii.
