Real Deal on the Golden Nugget
Right in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, the Golden Nugget epitomizes old-school class. Where the neighboring Binions has a rustic saloon sawdust feel, the Nug is plush. Great rooms, all reasonably priced, great food, great service and great action. You simply cannot go wrong at the Golden Nugget.
Are the vibes lucky at Golden Nugget?
Take a huge dollop of Trump Taj Mahal, a little Ballys, a little Mirage, a chunk of classic Sands and add a bunch of hookers, high-rollers and good energy. The joint gets real crowded on the weekend and the minimums go up as well... so if you're assed out and still want to hit some $5 or $10 blackjack (or less) try Binions or the Plaza.
What casino games are offered at Golden Nugget?
All the usual suspects... lotsa slots too. They've got a brand new and mega bitchin poker room... check it out for some All-In Fun.
Does Golden Nugget have casino comps?
The 24Karat club requires that you run up 2500 credits before it starts counting "for real" - kind of a shitty comp deal if you ask us... they may have changed it though.
Readers Who Added Golden Nugget to their MyVegas Favorites

I bought the Golden Nugget in the late 1970s and transformed it from a downtown also ran to a 5 diamond resort... eventually I expanded the Golden Nugget brand to Laughlin, NV and Atlantic City, NJ. What a shame how its changed.

The best joint downtown. Can't swing the skyrocketing prices on the strip? Get a better room at a swankier joint - The Golden Nugget. It's a Steve Wynn Joint! (or at least it was)

Nicest hotel on Fremont. Carson Street Cafe has awesome Monte Cristo sandwiches. The shark tank is pretty sweet, especially at night.

Love the Nug. One of the cleaner places on Fremont Street. Yea it's all up dated but they still have the history. Plus the tables pay well. I give it a solid hard eight!!!

I used to love the Nug myself, but then they got bought out by some restaurant company. Whereas the Nug used to really be old school Vegas classy, it's now trying to compete with the hotels on the Strip. If I wanted that, I'd pay to stay on the Strip. Such a waste. I hear they have a shark tank now... I mean, WTF?The gambling is good there, though. I'll give it that. But 2004 was the last time I'd stay there - the service had really gone downhill shortly after the property was sold. And I got tired of being stalked by the timeshare people. We knew they were bad when a just married couple was walking back to their hotel room and got assailed by 5 people telling them about a "free" show. I know this is an evil at most Vegas hotels, but these people were just overtly agressive.
