Readers Who Added Golden Nugget to their MyVegas Favorites

I bought the Golden Nugget in the late 1970s and transformed it from a downtown also ran to a 5 diamond resort... eventually I expanded the Golden Nugget brand to Laughlin, NV and Atlantic City, NJ. What a shame how its changed.

Very classy! Will actually consider staying here. Nice and clean casino, pretty nice staff. I like that you can actually see OUTSIDE from the casino and you don't feel trapped and claustrophobe

The best joint downtown. Can't swing the skyrocketing prices on the strip? Get a better room at a swankier joint - The Golden Nugget. It's a Steve Wynn Joint! (or at least it was)

Nicest hotel on Fremont. Carson Street Cafe has awesome Monte Cristo sandwiches. The shark tank is pretty sweet, especially at night.

Love the Nug. One of the cleaner places on Fremont Street. Yea it's all up dated but they still have the history. Plus the tables pay well. I give it a solid hard eight!!!

Only witnessed the $5 blackjack table and played a few slots before heading back to the Wynn

I used to love the Nug myself, but then they got bought out by some restaurant company. Whereas the Nug used to really be old school Vegas classy, it's now trying to compete with the hotels on the Strip. If I wanted that, I'd pay to stay on the Strip. Such a waste. I hear they have a shark tank now... I mean, WTF?The gambling is good there, though. I'll give it that. But 2004 was the last time I'd stay there - the service had really gone downhill shortly after the property was sold. And I got tired of being stalked by the timeshare people. We knew they were bad when a just married couple was walking back to their hotel room and got assailed by 5 people telling them about a "free" show. I know this is an evil at most Vegas hotels, but these people were just overtly agressive.
