Main Street Station - The Real Deal :
Main Street Station's casino is an amalgam of pieces and parts to elegant and odd historical places from around the world. Sort of like a minature collage in the Hearst Castle sense of the word... a mantle from here, a urinal from there, a fire place from here a prehistoric video poker machine from some other place - this joint is a crazy quilt of "stuff". While this may depict a Sanford & Son image in your mind - rest assured the design and presentation is elegant, rich and seamless. It's a fantastic joint to stay at and gamble.
Main Street Station History
Self-described as 'The Jewel of Downtown', the Main Street Station is a neato joint just on the outskirts of the Fremont Street hubub. Built on the site of the abandoned Main Street Station Hotel, the revamped Main Street Station casino joint opened its doors in November 1996, with 420 spacious rooms (big by downtown standards) a large and bitchin' buffet, an onsite brewery, . Included in the unique restaurant lineup, is the first downtown microbrewery - The Triple 7 BrewPub offering five hand - crafted brews, a menu designed to compliment the brews and nightly entertainment. This is the very same station where the railroad first made its way through Las Vegas... the history in this neighborhood is pretty amazing, and the hoteliers at the Main Street Station have done a great job procuring and displaying artifacts and antiques from the pioneer days. Fab!
Location of Main Street Station:
Just down Main Street from the Plaza, attached to The California by a bridge. It's the "best kept secret in all of Las Vegas." Shhh... don't tell anyone.

My favorite casino. I wish they would send me offers though and I can't understand why they do not. On my last visit I played there every day, yet I only played at the Fremont once and they sent me an offer for 3 free days.

Nice joint! and great food! but I'm not much of a fan of staying in downtown.. Plus, with the large amount of Hawaii folk staying there from the airfare/hotel/meal packages that Boyd Gaming sells through Vacations Hawaii, I choose to stay else where just for the adventure of getting away from life in Hawaii. VP machines on main bar has pretty good paybacks on Double Bonus Poker.

The casino isn't that hot (although if you consider it and the Cal one entity it gets better) but value is the name of the game here. And the turn of the century motif is charming.

Not too bad of a place in terms of gaming. The 777 Brewpub has some good beers, but by the time we hit there the first night, I was pretty much done drinking. We ate at the buffet there on Saturday night and it didn't sit too well with me.
