Visited the New Frontier on our way back from... uh, I hesitate to tell you this, but.. well, I guess I'll tell you... we were walking back from Circus Circus, okay!? Yes we hung out and reveled in the big top for a few minutes! We had a blast! (not really).
Anyway, when me and Miss Melody first entered the New Frontier casino I was instantly swept back to the 1970's. Then I heard it... the sound of real coins dropping from slot machines was like music to my ears. I have spent the last few years waxing nostalgic about the good old days when real coins fell, clanking in your tray, when you hit a jackpot. Oh, how we'd carry those plastic buckets of coins with pride!
The New Frontier gave me the opportunity to hear that sweet coin music again, and I have to say... what a pain in the ass! I mean really! Getting all those stupid coins when all you really want is your little receipt thingy so you can easily move on to the next thing!
But the real reason we went into the New Frontier was so that I could test out my untested roulette chops in the least intimidating environment I could find. Well, I found it. I was able to belly up to an empty table with a friendly dealer, and all with a minimum bet of five bucks! Perfect!
I had no pressure, was able to ask dumb questions, and got served free drinks at an acceptable pace. I sat for a while and had a bit of a lucky streak, leaving with more than double what I came in with.
Miss Melody found one of her beloved Hexbreaker slots and hit big on that, too! (I should mention that not ALL the slots were coin-only, there are some new "credit" machines, too).
So we'd recommend the New Frontier for grinders who want a low-key atmosphere with low minimums.
