Real Deal on the Riviera
At one time, the Riveria's casino was the largest in all of Vegas, with the growth of the lower strip behemoths it has been thrown to the footnotes of Vegas grandeur. However, if you're looking for a decent gamble at old school Vegas prices... the Riviera Hotel Casino is one of the last places you will find it at.
Are the vibes lucky at Riviera?
Groovy old-school strip gangster vibrations resonate loudly in this place. The carpets are vintage, as is the breathable air. The slot attendants have been working there since the Eisenhower administration and we couldn't be happier about it. The Riv is all about old-school class... to bad its a little isolated from everything else. With the opening of Wynn Las Vegas, the sale of Sahara, the construction of Fontainebleau next door and the implosion of the New Frontier, the entire north Strip landscape is in complete flux. The Riviera's days are numbered... so go visit the old bag while you can.
What casino games are offered at Riviera?
Blackjack (shoe and hand dealt), Roulette (double zero), Keno, Mini-Baccarat, Caribbean Stud, Spanish 21, Pai Gow Poker and more. They also have a ton of slots in all denominations down to a penny. Additionally, Dollar Town and Nickel Town - are faves among locals - and have some of the best payouts in all of Vegas. Also notable is the Survivor slots... if you spin three Ruperts you win a tye-dye wifebeater!!! (just kidding - they're gone now)
Does Riviera have casino comps?
Ask the pit boss for an autographed photo of Frank Marino as Joan Rivers! It worked for us!!! Seriously, the Riv is aggresive about signing up people to their Players club. New joiners get $10 in free slot play (if you're willing to deal with the nasty bitch behind the players club sign-up counter) and they have a $20 for $40 slot tournament thingy where you get to spin for a while in hopes of winning a 'jackpot' - if you don't win they give you a Riviera mug and your choice of some gifts from a display case. Its an interesting waste of 30 minutes (particularly if you're drunk) and $20. Plus you'll go home with a dorky gift (we chose the Riviera picnic cooler bag on wheels!) Rock on Riviera.

Adequate rooms ...nice to see the remodel though. A step in the right direction. Still has the feel of an older casino (which I like) Always friendly dealers and waitresses. Seems to always a seat open at most tables... still has $5 min on tables.Mostly a older crowd hangout.

Old school and proud of it. Stayed here my first trip to Vegas in 2004. Room suited me fine, as I don't care as long as the bed is comfy. If the new ownership wants to keep the Old Vegas vibe, they need to restore the front to the old look. The buffet here was o.k., the coffeeshop was better IMHO.

It's not so dumpy like it used to be. New renovated sports book is very nice.

Holds a special spot in my heart, as this was where I stayed my very first trip to Vegas back in 2004. While I'll probably never stay there again (what's the point since the Stardust and the Westward Ho are now memories), it served it's role in getting me hooked on Vegas.
