The D - The Real Deal :
Refreshed from top to bottom in 2013 with restaurant openings spilling over into 2013, The D has become one of the focal points of Downtown Las Vegas' resurgence. With active ownership (Trippies 2013 person of the Year Derek Stevens) that understands the balance of offering good stuff for good prices and freshly renovated good stuff to offer, The D launched itself to the top tier of DTLV properties.
Location of The D:
The D is located right in the heart of the Fremont Street Experience... lots of action to the left and lots of action to the right. That may equivocate as being "the middle of the action."

The D History
The D, formerly luck of the irish themed Fitzgerald's, originally opened in 1980 as Sundance but changed its name and partnered with Holiday Inn shortly thereafter. Fitzgerald's developed a very devoted clientele who swore the place was lucky as (then) owner Don Barden let the property languish in a very competitive marketplace. After Barden's passing In 2011, one of the owners of the Golden Gate - Derek Stevens - made overtures to his estate and eventually purchased Fitzgerald's. The new owners instantly commenced on a full renovation of the properties casino floor(s), hotel rooms and restaurants. Additionally, they announced that the property would be called "The D" after Detroit, which is also owner Derek Steven's nick name.
The Rooms at The D
The D has completed their renovation of the hotel. Furnished using goods "Made in the U.S.A." The D's hotel room line up features smartly designed cozy hotel rooms with crisp contrasts and comfortable fittings. All rooms feature the usual stuff - iron/board, hair dryers, flat screen tvs - but don't feature top tier amenities... the in room mini bar. Rooms come in five configurations Two Queen Beds, One King, Corner King, Premium Corner King and The D Suite.
Restaurants at The D
The D has upgraded all of their dining offerings with the renovation. American Coney Island serves original coney dogs straight from Detroit... whatever that is. The D Grill is their 24 hour casino cafe thing, but better. Joe Vicari's Andiamo Italian Steakhouse is another import from Detroit, and there's a McDonalds too. The Krispy Kreme is gone.
The D Tips
The D has an outdoor pool (one of the few in downtown - see Binion's & Golden Nugget) that is open till 9pm from May until October.
