Chuckmonster
Cut my gambling teeth flipping baseball cards, playing Contract Rummy and Poker with my parents then to the big league gambling at Ballys, Resorts and the Golden Nugget Atlantic City, Yonkers Raceway (trottahs!). Headed out west in the early 1990s and hit Vegas for the first time on the drive through. Hit the 4.99$ twin lobster tails at the Sands, blackjack at Desert Inn, Dunes, Mirage and a shit load of craps at Casino Royale. LV Hilton, IP, Flamingo, Binions, Golden Nugget, Mandalay Bay... still haven't hit them all, but will... because I LOVE LAS VEGAS. Give the Chuckmonster a shout out!

"I can`t stand an actor or actress who tells me acting is hard work. It`s easy work. Anyone who says it isn`t never had to stand on his feet all day dealing blackjack." ~Dean Martin
Looking forward to making awkward memories of beer filled plastic footballs and Bret Michaels with you.
Williamsburg!
Party hat, packed and ready to go! Are you ready?!?
Damn, I love this website. As others have said, this site gets me through those periods between Vegas trips. After lurking here for the last year or so, I finally joined.
ah, vassar-ville. hallowed.
Chuck! I just stayed in the two nicest rooms at Vdara and wanna do some guest reviews! I took tons of pics...Do you just want a word document and pics to plug in to captions or what kind of format? I'm not super computer savvy...
Great site! Slayer got a Grammy nod! D. Grohl was wearing a Slayer shirt if you missed it.
chuckmonster, I thought your last TR to MB was classic. So how was the return trip?
VIMFP was great, thanks for all your hard work in pulling it together. It was great to meet everyone in person. Great Show.
Dudester, is it true that your vibrato is more captivating then Yngwie's and that you once TA'd Theory D while on Acid?
Yes Chuckmonster, my band toured the US and Canada with Lee Scratch Perry back in 2005-6 or so. One of the most extraterrestrial experiences in my entire life, as I'm sure you can imagine. :) In any case, this site kills it. I was trying to plan a trip to Vegas and kept saying "where's the site that will give me the no BS take on all things Vegas"...and voila, here it is! Much respect!
Love the site, love the news... This is the only thing (and crappy free online dice and 21 games) that get me through my breaks in vegas trips!
Hey chuck I just discovered this site as well as the podcast of the Vegas gang and I love it .thanks and incidentally I just discovered a thing called Facebook and Twitter. No I wasn't in a coma....just drunk.
Hey yo Chuckmonster- Loving the look, feel, and content around here lately. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting and keeping this little corner of the web fun and exciting. Additionally, The Vegas Gang is a pretty spiffy listen. Well Played all around! Have Fun~ Stosh
Chuckmonster, thank you for the breaking news about the explosion and fire NEAR the I-15 and the Monte Carlo. You might want to add other tags, like I-15, electrical fire, Nevada Power, etc. When you get the chance, please change the title so people don't freak out for the wrong reason. This event is NOT a repeat of the fire on the top floor of MC three years ago, correct? I hope there's no casualties and/or injuries from all this.
Chuckmonster! Thank you so much for your restaurant review of Lotus of Siam. I'm from Chicago and love Thai food, and going off the Strip is always a fun adventure for me when I come to Vegas. I'm definitely going to try this place on my trip next month! Also, what Trip Reports are you reading, because I've never seen this place mentioned in any of the Trip Reports I've read! I love vegastripping.com - keep up the great work! RPJJR
I hate to admit, this is the first time I've visited this board, other then to vote for myself in the yearly Trippies event... but this is a fine site you've put together! I'm the same Brian who used to run www.WhatBrianThinksAboutLasVegas.com. After over 5 years as a forum-based site, and at least another 5 before that as a simple review site, I've decided to shut the doors as of 4/30/2011. The truth is, with the current environment brought on by "The Law Firm That Will Not Be Spoken.", and the work it takes to keep a review site relevant, my heart just wasn't in it anymore. Better to close then to fall apart. Thank you for the yearly props in the Trippies, and I hope you won't mind if I hang out around here a bit...
Great review on the Cabana Suites. Good to see the ElCo getting some love. Would love to VT change the Cortez page on the site. Keep up the great work!
Chuck! I am going to the Trop again Superbowl weekend and staying in the Corner Suite once again. I would really love to do a guest review for you if you are interested! Please get back to me :)
Thanks for the ShoutOut and I'm delighted you enjoyed the music on my Myspace! I've got a new song in the pipeline but I haven't had time to work on it for ages... I'll get it finished eventually though. Thanks again!
YooHoo, they hoo, we all hoo for the terrace room.
Thanks for all the great material on the site. Maine is pretty damn for from Vegas and it is great to check in and see whats going on. Hope be at Podcast -a-palooza next year and meet everyone. Pete
Hello Chuckmonster, I work on behalf of the Sahara. I got the chance to see your article on it and I sincerely apologize for your unpleasant visit. We always welcome our guests' opinions, it's points out our flaws and helps us improve as a resort. We would like to know more about your experience so if you could email me at ramon@braintrustlv.com I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you. - Ramon
Just got the package! Awesome!! I love it x10!
Just spent the last 20 minutes of my life in the VT photos room. So good. The photography is awesome, but the titles and captions are genius. Big ups.
I have been lurking out here for quite a while and decided to jump in. Love the site. It's nice to keep up on Vegas between yearly trips.
I'm baaaack! It's been over 2 years since my broke ass has been to Vegas. I traded my obsession with the bright lights for an obsession with low stakes online poker. I received the news today that the love of my life is takin me to Vegas for my 50th birthday (Nov 7-9). So, where is the first place I came to get the latest on wassup in Vegas-VT baby! Looks like a lot has changed-lookin good CM.
Seriously, Cornelius!!!?? Have you heard the 5.1 mixes of his last two cds? AMAZING!
Thanks for the love, I just noticed it. Right back at you Chucky. Perhaps I should pay attention to my profile page since I am now staff.
Been been lurking outside for a while and decided to jump in.Cool site.My Vegas away from Vegas. Thanks!
Enjoyed your interview with Hunter. Congratulations for creating such a useful website. Best of luck on your future trip to Macau!
just listened to Hunter's interview with you.Great life story. You are obviously a very intelligent and resourceful guy. You have created a great site and enterptise. Best wishes for continued success.
Great site, Chuckmonster! Thanks for putting this together. Let's get together and play poker sometime. Bring lots of money lol!
Chuckmonster rocks my world like a ride at circus circus after 3 Slots of fun dogs.
Is this how you get Posse? I'm still trying to figure out the Posse. The Posse is mysterious.
Dental care: I refuse to use the abreviation but that photo made me laugh out loud.
Yo Chuck, I finally pimped my profile a little bit so I figured I might as well shout someone out, too.
chuck- would love to hang out sometime at any mgm property. i;ve only been to vegas on 5 bachelor parties and don't know how to do it any other way. if you want to booze it up hit me up:)
were you at the Mandarin Bar on March 31st around sunset time??!
I hear they're gonna redo the Trop. Got a press pass I can borrow?
does your countdown mean a review of the remodeled rooms is afoot?
I'm pretty new here, but thanks for this website. I didn't know there was a group of people as pathologically interested in Vegas as I am.
Feb 18-21, make it happen!
Love Vegas Tripping. Thanks for a great site! Looking forward to the Trippies!!!!
Thanks for the site and the good suggestions. Vegas has gotten a lot more enjoyable since I started listening to you!
Hi, I’m Kirk Kerkorian and this is my new hotel; the only one that'll revolutionize Las Vegas.
The crew is going to Fremont for Spyder's stag on Sept 24th if ya wanna join. Dinner at Triple George and private poker tourney at Binions
No kidding--Coby '89. I know the Stone Pony bouncer/dining hall lady you speak of. I was "Captain Jack" on WCOB. Small freaking universe!
I think it may be the hangover, but I got confused trying to log into the site. I really like the VIP Check in, but you confused me again, you web guru........
Funny that you asked that...it acually was Jerky stuff. 2 cans, 5 guys and 1 rented mini van with a cooler of empty bud lights.
Big shout out to CHUCKMONSTER!!! thx
They blocked VegasTripping at work! How am I supposed to get my Tripping fix when they block the site??? Well, Boozehouse and I had to go and buy mini netbooks so we can hook into the public wireless and get our Vegas on... :)
I'd love to, Charles. Why don't you join Andre Agassi and me this weekend at the Wilshire Country Club?
Thanks Chuckmonster, not real familiar with the whole site yet, and with working in a casino for 10 years (not in Vegas tho, dammit-lol) I've never even thought about looking at the games section. I hope you don't mind me giving my input from that side of table
Reading your faves, we might be twins! Good Luck on your trip, but leave a couple bucks for me (headed there 11-14).
Thanks for the shout-out! Pssst.....how many people know about the Super Secretive Scorpio Club? Shhhhh.... ;)
RE your Fave 10: #1 - the Wynn is on our list to check out 12/08. #2 I'm betting BHBH that I can finish a fried Twinkie on our next trip. #3 If I'm invited, I'll throw beads from the Rio. #4 Lucky SOB. #5 I love it online, but haven't had the guts in person. #6 We've got the recipe at home, along with the fish bowls and dry ice. *Warning* - consumption of an entire fish bowl of a Warp Core Breach can render one in the prone position on the bathroom floor, unaware that their unsympathetic husband is squirting them in the ass with a phaser pistol watergun. #7 The smell of Quark's - I loved it! #8 I bet you thank God for dental care during those times. #9 I'd love to a) see that in person and b) have pictures of it to savor the memories. #10 I've yet to drive into town, but I always strain my neck trying to see the strip from end to end as my plane lands. :)
Or as the Klingons say, "Nanu nanu."
I believe that is the day that Chuckmonster celebrates the anniversary of his birth. Is that correct??
Yo! Cheers!
Yeah you're right. John McCain IS old. www.thingsyoungerthanmccain.com
Chuck, I like where you're head's at. Hitting town 8/8/8, would love to grab a drink and a few hands of 3 card if you're going to be around. War old Vegas!
Yo chuck, donnymac and I are in Vegas late July (23-31 for me, 26-30 for donny). You and the miss should see if you can swing a trip.
Alright so, last Saturday (May 3rd), sitting at my table at the BITE show and who comes to sit at the table with us? Vinnie Paul. I thought it was a damn impersonator at first until I saw the rest of the entourage sit down with him and wouldn't luck know it, I left my camera in the room to charge becuase I didn't think I'd need it for the first night in Vegas (especially since we were only going to see BITE). He was very quiet but after the show he said I was cute because I made him laugh. (I was making fun of the show the whole time but I caught him laughing a couple times.)
Lamb of God is the absolute shit. They're one of those bands you can see live over and over and never get tired of them. 5 days till Vegas...being drunk for a week is the absolute best thing ever.
Love your reviews. I definitely owe you a Warp Core Breach if we ever cross paths!
Just got back from the voting booths and casted my vote for Pornslapper. God Bless America!
i think i leave the day you get to vegas. anyways, been reading your guys site for at least three years now. maybe longer (i can't remember) i have major vegas withdrawl right now.... I recall voting for the trippies the last 3 years. I also seem to run into the rodeo folk everytime I go to vegas in October.
Hey chuck, do you use twitter? It's a pretty cool tool to keep up with folks and let people know what you're up to. I follow Tim & Michelle, Hunter and some other folks. It's like a mini blog inside a blog
Back in the States and on the east coast this time. Going to head to Atlantic City soon. Charles, you never cease to amaze with your work on these sites.
I hope someday to rule Vegas. As for right now I will settle for the title of Prince of O'Sheas or the Duke of Casino Royale. Chuck if you are headed to Vegas at the end of March let me or Spyder know and we can hook up for a midget (or is it little person) shot at O'Sheas. PS Thanks to your emcee job of the Trippies I got a shout out from Michele and Tim at Five Hundy. On second thought maybe I do rule Vegas.
I think that it is actually my heart stopping..... SSSSPPPPPYYYYYDDDDDEEEERRRR THUD-TH-THUD.......THUD..... (note to self: I always thot it would be my liver), but I'm goin back to the land of milk and honey the end of March, I will find a sandwich to rival that one if it kills me, and it very well could!
I see that The Emerald City is now on the home page. Looking forward to being there next month. Thanks for the birthday greeting. Welcome to your forties! It's all downhill from here!
Got your shout. Looking forward to checking out the MGM and I will get some pics. 41-1/2 days and counting-time is dragging on. By the way Happy B-Day! Mine is tomorrow my fellow Scorpio.
New website is great! Almost as great as uh-The Wynn and .....Encore?
What up Chuckmonster. Almost done with that Jesus interview
I felt really good about going to Vegas again, when I realized that you were going to Macau about 6 hours before me... have fun!!
Hey Chuck Found a link to "the jungle" pages, really like the layout and navigation. Can't wait to see the finished product on Saturday.
too add to donnymac66, it's been a over a week and I think I'm still drunk. The Pain won't go away, even with more JD
I am more of a bathe in Miller Lite or black russians kinda dude and last Monday night i fell into the tub and drank my way out as did my boy Spyder except his tub was full of Jack Daniels. Awesome strip crawl from IP to Mesa Grill to Mirage to TI to Venetian to Casino Royale to Flamingo to O'sheas till 7am. Note to self, I'm not 21 anymore!
One of the good guys. Thanks for running such a great site!
Thanks man! Oh, and your #6 rocks!
Yo CHUCKMONSTER Love the site. I am a vegas junkie like you. I have been going sincw 84, I really miss all the neon, it used to be daylight at nighttime. One of these new/re-born casinos need to bring back the night sun!!
Hey chuck, I have got to admit love your passion for our town. Quick question, I am gonna be at MB march 22nd. The weather is supposed to be great any idea if the pool is open
mmmmm Warp Core Breach, but I still like the Romulan Ale (it turns yer poo blue!) Thanks for the advice I've picked up readin what you wrote!
Chuckmonster, this site is fabulous. Love it. It's Vegas baby!
Monsterous shoutouts to you Chuck Chillout. First time offender here. Chivas and Shabu? Perhaps my friend, perhaps.
There's a new cheese in town and her name is Toni Fucking Braxton.
Hot damn Chuck, you score big again with MyVegas! I sure miss that sweet poker table and wicked poker grin of yours!
Hi, I'm Steve Wynn, and this is my new hotel - it's the only one i've ever put my name on.
Hot DAMN baby!
Good work Chuck... Next trip in 3 days? For how long? I'll be there this coming weekend. Wanna get a pint?
this myvegas thing is pretty sweet chuck. nice job VT folks!
My Posse
Fave Joints
I've been in the rooms but have yet to test drive the bed... a truly gorgeous hotel.
My newest fave... who know the house of Caesars was still a contender for the heavyweight belt?
Even at five years old, you still look so cute. Unfortunately, you've become self aware and slightly annoying. At least you still have Roger Thomas.
The spirit of Las Vegas is alive and thriving at the El Cortez. New suites, refurbished less smoky casino and the incredible Cabana Suites building out back. El Cortez is a real player in town.
A gorgeous modern interpretation of the casino resort. Fun times can be had, but sometimes the service level and questionable technology can be a big thorn. Love the craps pit, hate the slot mix, love Serrano and JPP. The rest didn't give me a happy wedgie.
Beautiful building, fantastic service, friendly staff, great rooms, excellent food. Now if only it weren't a 20 minute drive from the Strip. Love M.
I've always liked the Hard Rock, even though I despise the restaurant and kitch factory. The new additions are truly bitchin.
This is really a 3.5 dice property, but I'm feeling charitable and rounding up. Clean, nice spacious design... perhaps a little too spacious. It lacks, but the rooms are nice and the quality/price balance is tilted in the visitors favor.
Loved the vibe here even if the service wasn't so great. Isn't it about time for some room renovations?
The Stratosphere is all brand new for 2011. New rooms, new casino, new signage, new paint, new decor and completely refreshed dining. I spend one night here and had a lovely stay. Definitely recommended.
Lovely casino, excellent dining, great views from rooms, nightmarish hotel operations. Until they iron the kinks out, let the buyer beware.
The only affordable joint on the Strip still offering a decent gamble that wears clown shoes.
Still clean. Still shiny. Still a good joint even if they botched the name change. I've never liked gambling here... if they solved this problem, they'd be onto something.
I loved this place back in the 1990's. Now, it just feels kinda dark and too modern. I don't like gambling here, but like the hotel and dining experiences.
Cramped rooms, confusing layout, but what the fuck do you expect it is New Yawk New Yawk muthafucka.
I have not stayed here since they renovated the joint, but I liked it beforehand. Cheap, clean, great location and lots of charm.
The spiffy renovation might have spoiled the previously disgusting Plaza. This place was great as a grind joint... the glitter and bright lights might show stuff you don't really want to see. Also houses some of the best grinder craps games in town.
The Flamingo used to be one of my go-to joints in town, but after experiencing the disaster that is their housekeeping, I'm too grossed out to stay here again. Did I mention roaches?
Cramped rooms, cramped casino, cramped everything. I feel like i'm at the bottom of an ant hill here, fighting for stale crumbs.
