I've been visiting Vegas for as long as I can remember, since my childhood in the early 80's. As a teenager, I became fascinated with the history and style of this dynamic city while my peers could never understand what all the fuss was about. Today, I appreciate the city from both a pleasurable standpoint (ultra-lounges and chic boutiques) and a historic understanding of the city's heritage. I enjoy both the classy side of Vegas (Wynn and Bellagio) along with the trashier side (Cheetah's and Liberace). I don't believe that Vegas should define itself as one or the other, but rather celebrate the fact that it offers everything, kinda like having a buffet with both caviar and Rice Krispie Treats.

Vegas Posse Shout Outs
Hi...I'm Steve Wynn and this is my ShoutOut to you. It's the only one I've ever signed my name to...
Your top ten is hi-larious. Thank you!

My Favorite Joints
My Review of Mandalay Bay
It was in the lounge at this hotel where I turned 21, so I'll forever have a soft spot for this place. Other than that, I guess I love the eclectic atmosphere and various themes they offer, kinda like an ultra-chic Disneyland, but without all the evil.
My Review of Caesars Palace
Proof that kitsch is still king in Vegas. Even with the $12 drinks and Paris/Britney-infested PURE, I can't but feel this place is the epitome of this town. Oh, and Cleopatra's Barge is a haven for all things groovy.
My Review of Flamingo
Instead of demolishing a landmark and/or trying to go for some bland hip and trendy theme, this old-timer has instead reinvented itself by embracing it's retro-gaudy glamour. It's kinda like spending the night on a high quality porno set from the 70's.
My Review of Mirage
It used to be a goofy Disney-esque family trap. But here's one of the few places where the de-theming worked. It now has a swanky 50's coconut lounge vibe to it. Just stay out of Montecore's way!
My Review of Fremont
My favorite downtown hotel. It's practically oozing charm and is the kind of place that is small enough to be considered cozy. It's mixture of gaudiness and comfort makes me feel at ease here.
My Review of Hooters
Stayed here for the first time in January and was taken away not only by how informal and friendly it was, but how the fun tackiness was very well balanced with the above average amenities. A just plain FUN place with zero attitude (quite refreshing from everywhere else in town now).

Arabian Nights my ass! If you ask me, combing 80's A-listers, whacked out design, themed rooms, and color changing lights was destined to make this a quintessential Vegas resort. Yes, it's gaudy. Yes, it's tacky. But it's all done in such a high-class way that the overall effect works.
