Golden Nugget

Has become home base for our Vegas excursions. An absolute value for the quality and without resort fees. Clean and stylish with many gaming, dining and entertainment options. Rush Tower upgrade gets you a coupon book for free drinks, BOGO buffets, matchplay, reduced show tix, etc... Best pool on Fremont. Chart House Restaurant runs awesome Happy Hour specials. The buffet is a decent option for breakfast or lunch. Large enough casino to always find an open seat. Higher table limits and generally higher clientele as well. Nothing but wonderful experiences during each of our stays.

MGM Grand

This Grand Ol' Dame popped my Vegas cherry. My jaw dropped as soon as I walked into the huge, gorgeous lobby and I have been coming back to Vegas twice a year ever since. Anxious to see the renovated rooms. Nice selection of restaurants. Emeril's New Orleans Fish House has never disappointed us. The deli near the sports book is a hidden gem. The casino is massive and offers something for everyone, including an old 25-cent mechanical horse race ... Classic!

Mandalay Bay

Almost got a tattoo here once.

Wynn Las Vegas

The best of the best.

El Cortez

One of my favorite low-roller joints in Vegas. They deal some of the best $3 / $5 BlackJack games anywhere and offer a killer 2-for-1 martini Happy Hour. The piano player in the casino bar adds a nice vibe. The Flame is a classic, old-school steakhouse and the easy-to-find $25.00 coupon makes it a must-do when staying D'town. What's with that nasty, old-woman "perfume" scent they pump into the casino?

Probably our favorite Vegas hotel room so far. Love the sunken living room and being able to shower while watching TV in the bathroom mirror. Huge, impressive property to explore ... St. Mark's Square, several great shows and many wonderful dining options. Not a big fan of the casino, however. Higher table limits and IMO some of the tightest slots in Vegas. And it's a Hell of a long walk from the room to the strip.

Main Street Station

A cool place to explore and well worth the walk from Fremont to visit this little beauty. We spent an enjoyable hour simply wondering around and locating the antiques Boyd collected from around the world. They provide a brochure map with descriptions of the antique items to those interested. The casino bar with the large bronze boar statue is simply beautiful and has become one of our favorite Vegas spots to sip on a drink and relax. They make their own tasty microbrew beer, have the best buffet downtown and is easy to get to via the enclosed walkway to the larger California casino. A little lacking on the fun-o-meter, but for what it is MSS is a gorgous spot to spend a few hours.

Binion's Closed Hotel & Open Gambling Hall

Comfortable joint with plenty of action and decent drink service. Large enough so it never has felt over-crowded to me. There is a great lounge in the back near the sport's book serving the 4Q's micro brews and good pub grub.

Four Queens

I like to throw some cash at the slots here and we always seem to gravitate to the 4Q restaurants when we stay D'town. The Chicago Brewing Company has become one of our regular stops. It's a comfortable spot to enjoy a good selection of micro brews and reasonably priced pub grub with table views overlooking the casino floor. Magnolia's is solid as well and serves a decent prime rib dinner for well under 10 bucks.

Small, but clean and stylish rooms. Perfect for a weekend, but a little small for an extended stay. One of the best sports books D'town and a comfortable enough spot to kick back for a couple hours. I seem to wear out a path to the $2 Coronas/Heinekens on every trip. A clean, simple place to drink and gamble.
