Love, love, love the casino at the MGM! Drink service is quick and friendly. Treat those girls right and they'll take excellent care of you. Cage personnel were pleasant and quick with a joke. Although Cirque isn't really my thing, I enjoyed Ka during my trip way back in good old 2005. The only complaint I have would be that the folks at the MGM have mastered the labyrinthine casino. You'll be dizzy by the time you find your way out! Although with the friendly staff and the luck at the tables, who would want to leave?

Okay, here's the deal: TI isn't the classiest joint around. They're selling a concept (SEX) and they're not ashamed of it. The Sirens of TI "show" lures droves of people to the sidewalk out front, and about half herd themselves into the casino afterwards. I make it a point to see the Sirens at least once a night when I'm out Nevada way. Yes, it's cheesy, that's why I love it. If you look hard enough you can find a few $5 Blackjack tables for the low rollers like myself. The buffet is overpriced at ~$30 for dinner for what essentially amounts to Applebee's quality grub. Cross the street and hit the buffet at the Wynn instead. TI is tacky good fun for the 40 and under crowd.

This place has a lot of what I'm looking for. Low limits, $1 Michelobs, and a dimly lit, cavernous casino in which to try my luck. 100x odds bets at the Craps table is nothing to sneeze at either.

Okay, so the location isn't the most desirable. Take a cab and spend an evening there. Tons of rock n roll memorabilia if you're into that sort of thing. Heard about the not-so-secret $7.77 Special at Mr. Lucky's (steak, shrimp, and baked potato, and a salad for under 8 bucks)? Skip it. You get what you pay for, and you'd be better off ordering from the menu then forcing that piece of shoe leather down your gullet. That being said, the casino pretty much rocks. Hard. (Get it? Ha ha ha). Lots of attractive people to watch while you're laying down your life savings on the felt. If you want to rock n roll all night and party every day then the Hard Rock is worth the trip.

I stayed at the Trop back in 2005, and to say that my visit was underwhelming would be apropos. However, thanks to VT I see that they've gotten a facelift and I'm eager to check it out. There's a distinct "old Vegas" appeal to the Trop, which makes a visit there worthwhile. Plus, the location is pretty sweet. You're right near the airport and nestled amongst the MGM, Excalibur, Luxor, and New York New York, with Mandalay Bay a stone's throw away. I'm looking forward to poking my head in there come April, and I'll update this forum with my findings.
