Interesting story in the Review Journal about how the curvature of Vdara is causing a high intensity beam of heat/light to cook a 15x15 square of the pool deck everyday, including one guys drink cup, plastic bag, flip flops and singe his hair.

Called it "The Vdara Death Ray" they do. Notable MGM PR wonk Gordon Absher says that they put a protective coating on the windows to cut down the reflection by 70%. Didn't work.

Perhaps the most interesting thing is that we predicted this would happen in a post dated October 7th, 2008 - two years ago, and one year before Vdara even opened. Read the last four paragraphs... I dare you.

Everyone touted this as a highly 'Green', LEED certified project- If we look deep into the specs we might find "Solar heated pool" and now know what they meant....

the best part of the prediction in the first review is the last picture which has the full on fire pit going on. Great call though.

over 2000 comments on the yahoo story. Yahoo searchers for Vdara increased 17000 percent.
