Facebook fans of the Hash House A GoGo were treated this Election Day to a photo post comparing food stamps recipients to park animals.

Nine hours later, someone at Hash House noticed this post, deleted it and offered up an apology, and blaming the post was the work of a "rouge" employee.

*sigh*

Big thanks to VT ex-lurker texaggiewva for the tip!

Comments & Discussion:

How is this political? It's a criticism of the food stamp program by Billy Fleming not Hash Hash A Go Go. Owner's don't have a right to free speech? Don't go to Hash Hash A Go Go if you're offended. So childish.

I don't see an issue with this at all. Every one has the right to say what they feel.

It's an event because it's something that is really stupid for a business to do, no matter how someone feels. It's not like chain restaurants are monolithic companies with one person in charge who manages the business and cooks the food and publishes stuff to the FB page.

Somebody probably lost their job.

I could list the number of reasons that is hideously offensive and wrong, factualyl as well as ethically, but I don't have that much time.

Comparing people on food stamps with animals not being fed in federal parks is highly insensitive. It was a dumb ass thing to post and i am glad someone took it down.

So much for free speech and free criticism. The point of the article was to point out dependance created by a program usually thought of as benevolent. The writer does not want people to be dependant. So much for vilification of good intent.
