In response to customer demand, the Cosmopolitan is turning its Boulevard pool into an ice skating rink starting on November 30th.

Don't tell the RJ... but this isn't the first time a strip resort has mounted an ice skating rink. Just last year, the Venetian turned a section of their piazza into an skating rink slash winter wonderland.

Cosmopolitan will up the ante with mustachioed, suspender wearing bartenders in wearing Swiss caps escorting a half dozen real St. Bernard's onto the ice to pour signature hot buttered rum cocktails into the mouths of fallen skaters. In the wings, waitresses on roller skates will be circling the audience with cheese fondue pots and all the fix'ins. Music will be provided by acclaimed Brooklyn rock band The Alphorns. All patrons wearing ugly Christmas sweaters or hunting caps with ear flaps get $2 off admission, lederhosers get in free. Ok, I made up this whole paragraph.

Merry Chexmixmas!

Didn't Caesars used to do a temporary ice rink regularly too?

Sounds about right for Le Cosmo...I cannot believe they're not charging admission to get up on the pool deck for this shin-dig, and that the ice skating (from what I read) is only $10 for an all-day pass. As with the entire hotel/casino, I guess they're depending on the revenue from food and drinks to make $$ off this venture.

The Venetian's rink is fake ice (you're sliding around on a plastic sheet)...from what I understand the cosmo is going to be using an actual slab of ice...they need to do something with the pool deck during the winter can't blame them for trying, gotta make up for nonexistent casino revenue

@Minton We were out in Vegas when Venetian had that plastic monstrosity up. It didn't look very fun. There were very few people on it and the 'ice' looked like it was hard to skate around on.

My first thought was: Who goes to Vegas to ice skate? But then I thought about it, and if they use real ice, make it feel like a rink, have plenty of accessible booze nearby and rock the place with good music, it may just work. Definitely a great location.

Who goes to Vegas to skate? Canadians, that who!
