Remember the old Lady Luck? Well, construction on its long planned replacement Downtown Grand is blasting forth full steam ahead.

Yesterday, the property invited select local media types to come check the joint out - tour the casino, model hotel rooms and ask questions of property representatives.

The rooms look something like Stratosphere's recent renovations with Treasure Island's soft goods. Check out the slide show at Las Vegas Sun.

It looks good, but I wonder what sort of room rates we could be looking at when it opens? Fifth Street Gaming also now runs the Gold Spike for the Siegel Group and room rates have gone up in recent months and it was recently reported that "sexy blackjack" is no longer being offered there.

The rooms in red look something like what ''The D'' put together..the ones in green and blue look something like what the Bellagio put together..still, its nice to see another downtown property put itself back together as a far better offering than what it was..

vespajet: I read room rates are suppose to 'start' at $69.
I'm super exited the designer behind HRH and M is doing the pricipal work, it should be great if he has a budget to work with.

NO MORE SEXY BLACKJACK?!?!?!?!? NO!!!!!

I hope this works out

I hope they have a decent pool deck, by downtown standards. That's the deal-maker for me. Something a little bit roomier than the Nugget's, without the children, and I'll give it go. No kiddy-magnet slide needed, thank you.

And while I'm flogging that horse--when are you going to build a pool, El Cortez? Hurry!

Nice looking rooms, I love that downtown is going through a resurgence with refreshing their room product.

Vespa, I wouldn't worry too much about the room rates, if Plaza and The D have shown us anything, it's that regardless of refresh, they seem to be holding to DT prices.

I have to agree with CM's tweet as well, Boyd needs to start investing in their DT properties, especially considering they were sitting on a fair amount of cash with stopping Echelon. Also wouldn't be a bad time for 4Q to get going either.

Love downtown and that particular part was way overdue for a fix. Can't wait to see it done !
