The Polercoaster!
Look out Stratosphere, there's a new roller coaster slash observation tower coming to the Strip - the Polercoaster!
Well... maybe. The Review Journal is reporting that U.S. Thrill Rides has submitted plans to the Federal Aviation Administration to build a 650 foot tall roller coaster slash observation tower at the Tropicana.
Enthusiasts will ride the roller coaster straight up the "pole" then get off at the top, barf their brains out, then hop back on and ride the roller coaster back down to the ground. Erhm. So this thing is a high speed open air elevator with a gift shop and bar at the top?
The proposed Polercoaster will be the fourth tallest thing in Las Vegas, behind Stratosphere tower, Fontainebleau and Echelon (now Resorts World) and the second tallest thing you can go into without being arrested.
Of course, the developers have no solid contracts, approval or financing to build the thing. Anybody wanna book some odds on this thing?
Big thanks to VT reader @jwhall for the Tweet tip!

Comments & Discussion:
One wonders if they settled upon the name "Polercoaster" only after discovering that Penis-A-Whirl was already trademarked. By me.
This company has so much planned and submitted, but has yet to deliver.
They've also planned a theme park in Orlando called, "Orlando Thrill Park" - which failed miserably before the design concepts were even dry.
I bet it never happens and will take odds
"So this thing is a high speed open air elevator with a gift shop and bar at the top?"
Is that so wrong?
This would definitely change the Skyline of the strip. This will go well right next to the Skyvue boondoogle.
@nevrjustj not at all.
