The People vs. The New Tropicana Las Vegas A Doubletree by Hilton
Will this session of the Truth In Marketing court come to order, judge Charles S. Monster Esq. presiding.
In the case of The People vs. The New Tropicana of Las Vegas A Doubletree by Hilton, it has come to the attention of the court that the defendant has violated the Truth In Marketing code, specifically the Four Basic Tenets of Gambling Advertising.
Clerk will you present the evidence.

Thank you, clerk.
Charge #1, violation of Tenet #1 of the Four Basic Tenets of Gambling Advertising, which states:
If you are using dice, use squared edge casino dice, not black and white board game dice.
The dice color is suitable in this instance, however edges are rounded and pips are scalloped, not flat. Who do you think you are, boy? Yngwie J. Malmsteen?
Charge #2, violation of Tenet #2 of the Four Basic Tenets of Gambling Advertising, which states:
if you are using dice that have been illustrated, please draw the pips correctly, opposite sides add up to seven.
Adjacent sides on standard casino dice do not add up to seven.
Will the defendant please rise?
Clerk let the record show that The New Tropicana of Las Vegas a Doubletree by Hilton is not present in court, thereby defaulting any and all semblance of jurisprudence.
The New Tropicana of Las Vegas A Doubletree by Hilton you are hereby charged - in absentia - with violating TWO of the Four Basic Tenets of Gambling Advertising.
Clerk, will you gather the jury to read off their verdicts one by one?

Comments & Discussion:
I would have let them slide about the rounded edges, but the pips not adding up correctly is like a sharpened disposable chopstick shoved in my eye. I suggest that at this point in the game, whoever produced this ad knows what they're doing and are deliberately fucking with us.
Could they have come up with a longer, more confusing name for the place?
If I roll an "Up to 40% Off!", does my pass line bet win or lose?
What is the ruling on how long you can refer to something as "New"? Didn't the New Tropicana debut 2 or 3 years ago?? hardly new Your Honour. I rest my case!
Every email I get still says new and with the mall project on the way they can ride New until then. I will say one thing they do keep coming up with deals on a regular basis.
They've been calling it the "New" Tropicana for about five years now, well beyond it's sell-by date.
I wonder if the name "New Tropicana" has anything to do with the other Tropicana (in Atlantic City). Since the two Tropicanas aren't managed by the same company, perhaps this is how they're distinguished.
That said, Vegas' Tropicana predates Atlantic City's Tropicana by decades, so seeing it called the "new" one amuses me, despite knowing about its recent (and wonderful) renovations.
A question for y'all: Anyone know why Vegas' Tropicana is flagged as a Doubletree and not just a Canopy or a regular Hilton Resort?
Hmmm. A towel outside on the chaise lounge, but football on the TV. I guess we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's September.
I cannot expand enough on how much I *LOVE* these Truth in Advertising posts.
The one that I always roll my eyes at are ARIA's emailers that show it being right on the strip without any hint of Cosmopolitan or Harmon. The link to the image is below, I'll try and find a higher resolution one.

A country radio station here in the SF Bay Area called itself "The NEW 95.7 The Wolf" right up to the day it was flipped to sports talk...at least two years!
