Finally, the other shoe has dropped! MGM Mirage officially announced today that they will be constructing MGM Grand Atlantic City on 60 of their 72 acres adjacent to the Borgata. Woo hoo!

Take it away MGMMirage CEO Terry Lanni:

"We ... hope to re-energize the city's resort offerings and attract a new market of affluent East Coast customers," said Terry Lanni, MGM's chairman and CEO of the casino operator. "We believe the success at Borgata demonstrates the eagerness for further evolution of the nation's second-largest gaming market."

The new joint will feature:
Three towers - 3,000 rooms/suites
Largest casino floor in A.C.
5,000 Slots, 200 tables, poker room
1500 seat theater
500,000 sq ft of retail
Ground breaking 2008
Grand opening 2012

Total Cost: $4.5B+

Hooooooooray!

Comments & Discussion:

Ok. Does this MGM is going to populate the entire east coast with casinos? I live near Foxwoods, and the MGM Grand there is nearly complete.
