Luxor Gift Card

Jumping on the Gift Card Mall train, Luxor has begun to offer it's very own gift card, possibly as part of a pilot program which will be expanded to all MGM Mirage properties.

Gift cards (which can be charged up with a max $2,500 value) can be purchased at Nurture (Luxor's Spa), the business center and Essentials gift shop. In theory, you can use these pretty much everywhere inside of Luxor other than the casino games. Restaurants, dining, entertainment, nightlife and retail.

Unless you read the fine print:

Gift Cards are not valid for gaming, advance hotel reservations, advance ticket sales or bar tabs and may not be redeemed for cash. The maximum amount that can be purchased with the gift card is $2,500. Additional fees may apply to Gift Cards requiring shipping.

Luxor lists five of their bars as places where the card can be used - Aurora, CatHouse, Liquidity, Flight, High Bar - but you can't use these to pay for a bar tab. WTF? What else will you spend money on at a bar? Cocktail weenies?

Oh, and you can't use the gift card to buy tickets for shows as well... so scratch Criss Angel, Carrot Top and Fantasy off the list.

No tickets, no hotel reservations, no booze, no gambling... what exactly is the point of this card again? Oh yeah... it's for buying gift shop Vegas hotel skyline t-shirts which mysteriously only contain MGM Mirage properties. I get it now! How could I be so stooopid!

The fine print says "advance ticket sales or bar tabs," so it probably means you can't use the card to run a tab but you pay with it.
