Mike E's Going to Vegas
So it's been a little crazy around these parts in preparation for an upcoming trip. If there's one thing I love almost as much as Vegas, it's all the excitement of knocking down the pre-Vegas errands before heading out.
The cameras are charging, the clothes back from the dry cleaners, the car has been serviced and washed, the bags are packed (with bottles of Goose and Macallan wrapped in protective blankets), and room confirmations have been printed. Now the only thing that stands between my favorite city and me are half a tank of gas and three and a half hours of desert.
Hotels will include Mandalay Bay on Sunday night mostly to take advantage of a comped offer and to give 'em another whirl after nine years. Monday and Tuesday nights will be spent at Encore with a healthy budget reserved for the ultimate upgrade.
Firm plans include:
- Martinis at Red Square
- A "scavenger hunt" at Caesars Palace
- New York-New York's Beer Bash
- The Summer Tasting Menu at Craftsteak
- Lots of pool and possibly cabana time which might even include a whirl at Encore's newly installed poolside craps game
- XS Nightclub
Now I leave the ball in the court of the loyal VT readers. Is there anything in particular that you'd like to know about or that I can update you on? I'll do my best to accommodate requests.
As always, you can follow me on Twitter, read up the full trip report on Admiral Triple H's blog, and get the nitty gritty particulars right here on VT. Until Wednesday, it's Mike E signing out.

Mike, tell about the poolside craps table after your play. Not many of those around. Have fun!
Yeah, update us about that....I remember seeing a postcard from the Sands offering poolside craps, and haven't seen it anywhere since!
i heard the cabanas out at encore come with a wii console. if you could confirm that for me, i would appreciate it. also, if you can find out whether or not craftsteak still carries hirsch 16 year old reserve bourbon. thanks again and good luck!
@jester122
Craftsteak's booze list is here http://www.craftrestaurant.com/wineLists/craftsteak_winelist.pdf scroll to page 90 for the bourbons
poolside craps - do they send one of the dealers underwater when the inevitable calls for "same dice!!" are shouted when a die goes off the table?
The full report has been posted on Hunter's blog. I'll have a few more detailed thoughts streaming into VT soon.
